I live in St. Petersburg and don't really like Moscow. I would like to travel to Lake Baikal, or the Urals, or to the Black Sea.

Lake Baikal is marvelous that was where my wife and I had our first romantic weekend and fell in love.

I need to get out to the Russian Far East where my wife is from. Never been to her hometown so I'd like to see that at least once. (Probably only once!) And then Khabarovsk and Vladivostok as well. From the photos she's sent me over the years, both looked like pretty nice places.

If all goes well, someday we'll have a nice VIP car on the Trans-Siberian and we'll roll all the way from Moscow to Vlad. Heading over to check MegaMillions results now.....

You must really like riding on Trains (throwin mama from one). If you do take the trip remember to wave to my wife's family as you roll through irkutsk.

So it's really cold in the winter, expensive as hell, you have traffic jams at 2:00 AM, and a website where you can send text messages to hookers that look better than Anna Kournikova and they'll arrive (with a friend if you're so inclined) pipin' hot and fresh, just like a Domino's Pizza in less than 30 minutes?

Are the cops corrupt? Do old women charge you to use their porta-potties? Do you have million dollar apartments nustled away inside buildings that are so dilapitaded they should be condemned? Are your cab drivers drunk all the time? Do you have hooligans mulling about outside at your bus stops? Is your McDonald's a gourmet restaraunt?

When you go to the grocery store is there a security guard with an AK-47 greeting the customers?

Is beer cheaper than bottled water?

Do all 12-year-olds smoke? (And look like they could kick your @$$?... Svolochi!)

And last but not least......

Do you have to take your shoes off when you go into someone's home?

I don't mind taking off the shoes, we do it at home, but it is really uncomfortable to do so in other peoples homes, especially if you wear boots and the strange looks you get! But my money would be on Ekaterinburg it is an interesting city with many beautiful sites, and a big 10-4 to Slim on the corrupt cops and bureacracy in general and the dilapidated pee and cabbage smelling apartment buildings that contain well appointed apartments.

My wife and I have enjoyed our visits to Moscow and found many interesting things to see and do. And I'd like to argue with you about your observations regarding Moscow. I didn't see any significant traffic jams a 2:00 AM...... or maybe I wasn't seeing much of anything at that hour.

Yaroslavl is where my wife wants to return to visit.

The funny part is with Moscow having a whopping one vote I would be willing to bet that when most of us made the choice in real life of where to go in Russia most of us went to Moscow.

I always liked Moscow but it is getting more expensive there now. St Petersburgh is beautiful and really cool when they have the white knights. I think had Sochi been on the list it would have scored some votes. It is a great place. I think Lake Bakal would get a lot of votes as well. I have been lots of places in Russia but never that area and it is about the only place I have not been in Russia that I would like to go to.

Nice picture. I have probably been to Moscow about 15 times and St Petersburg only two times. I can't say I have any real desire to go back but there is not much to see in either place that I have not seen. I still rate Moscow and Kiev as my favorite cities but St Petersburg is one of the most beautiful cities I have been in. I have been to perhaps 20 or more other cities in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and even to Azerbaijan. Baku is a cool city.

I sat in traffic for a good 10-15 minutes right in front of Red Square/Kremlin at 2:00 A.M. when I was in Moscow. It wasn't uncommon for their to be very heavy traffic near the bridges as well. Trying to cross the river was almost impossible. The more "adventurous" cabbies got our biggest tips.

I saw a lot of Moscow at that hour as well as during the day. Surprisingly enough, it wasn't all that different!

Thanks, I am experimenting with photobucket. I assume you have been to Minsk? I have been to Belarus seven times, trying without success to start a business there. Lovely city with no tourist infrastructure at all. It was my introduction to Eastern Europe, and as such Belarus will always be dear to me.

I love the Lviv pictures, Brad! I'm going to take my wife back to visit next summer...I still have never been there when it was warm so it will be a real treat!
