I thought you made 2,999,999 (hypothetically speaking)? Why the need for 2 jobs?

LOL

Robin, don't you know by now that you can't one-up Mark. He's got everything either better, or more, or faster, than anyone here or anyone you ever knew in your lifetime, for that matter.

Damn right.

Calling my bluff on what? Having two jobs? Having my health insurance premiums paid for by my employer?

I actually bumped into this topic, and was thinking.. maybe, since my mother was burn in Nürnberg, Germany, if I could use that to get a dual citizenship for USA/Greece. :D

If anything else, just to be able to move to the EU just in case, with little trouble. However, we actually have plans to move to the Canadian province of Saskatchewan (visit pending) sometime in the next 5 years.

That depends on each indivdual country.

Germany is similar to the US though in that department. It is very difficult to legally immigrate without being in the class of:

1) Family based immigration

2) Employer sponsorship

3) Student

4) Asylum

5) Investor

As far as I know they have nothing like a lottery or points system like the US or Canada, respectively.

I dont know much about our diversity lottery here. How easy is it to get asylum in Germany though? Our waiting list for refugees I think is something like 3 years just to get approved or longer:(

Well, if you're willing to be an Au Pair/Nanny it's very easy. For anything else, very difficult. Unless you have money. Last time I checked you could 'purchase' residency in Ireland for around $14,000 or 7,000 British pounds. Otherwise, you really need to be in a field that's in demand and short in supply like nursing, medicine or IT. For a European company to hire a non-citizen they have to prove first that they couldn't find a local capable of doing the job. And how does a company do that?

I think I'm in a special camp and can get dual citizenship, as my mother was born in Germany, even though she was stationed there with family, her dad being in the military, and left a couple years later.
