I've never done it.

What I read here is that people call the National number given I think it's on your NOA1.

It appears some have called the Service Center they are being processed through.

I have called the 1800 and only get info from a recording

is there a way to talk to someone and get info?

P.T.,

If you reached a human being, there is nothing they could tell you. Your case is not yet overdue per the posted processing times. Looking at the posted processing date shows that your petition is most likely on someone's desk right now. Seeing that other people around your date are getting notices confirms this.

I know it's annoying, but wait a bit more; I think you can look for news very soon!

I think I've spoken to a live person at least twice -- I called this number: 1-800-375-5283 and just didn't select any of the options. Eventually, it leads you to a real living human being. Just be sure to call within working hours and I would advise calling at like 9:30am too, to beat the "rush."

And imo, calling the NVC is MUCH more aggravating than calling USCIS.

good luck!
