Hi Ranie,

It could depend on the state I guess, so have your fiance double-check, but we flew in on 13-January-2008, 14-January-2008 we applied for marriage lisence, 15-January-2008 we were married :) My husband is from Ohio originally.

BTW, I had my K-1 visa interview in U.S. Embassy in Jakarta. My husband (fiance at the time) and I were living and working there for 15 months.

"Selamat datang di Amerika" - did I get it right? :innocent:

Congratulations!

As others wrote above, you can apply it as soon as you arrive in US. I did.

But some states require waiting period to make it activated, and also blood test. Here's the useful link to check what is your state's requirement....

http://www.nolo.com/article.cfm/ObjectID/5...18/304/192/ART/

Just in case, I recommend you to check your state web site also.

Hope this helps..
