Well I am taking a French class and I turned in my quarter paper and I got it back to make corrections and I need a little help from any of you French speakers out there. The thing she marked wrong is when I wrote "J'irai chaque ete pour visiter ma famille au Maroc". She said to use a different work than "visiter". What am I supposed to say? I was thinking "J'irai chaque ete pour voir ma famille" Does that work?

I don't speak French, but in Italian, you can't use "visitare" in that context, but instead you use "trovare" (to find). it's probably the same in French....

visiter is a perfectly acceptable word.... however it looks better to say:

"j'irai chaque été pour voir ma famille au Maroc"

however your original sentence should not have been wrong

my teacher always said you don't use "visiter " with people but only museums and stuff. Who knows why! Teachers somtimes mark things and native speakers don't see anything wrong with it.

Use "voir", it's just better, I guess

Thank you for your help. I will most likey end up substituting "voulez vous couchez avez moi ce soir" for the original phrase I had written as it seems to be more interesting. Thanks!
