Human papillonomavirus its called and apparently you do need it (well UK applicants at least) U can get it on NHS

""Two HPV vaccines have been developed. Gardasil, developed by Sanofi Pasteur MSD received its European license in September, 2006 and was launched in London in October. It is now available and can be prescribed by a GP on an FP10 NHS prescription. It is also available privately. The other vaccine, Cervarix, developed by Glaxo Smith Kline is expected to be licensed by mid-2007""

ALSO (sorry bit of crazy internet surfing to figure this out) take a look at this link

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...p;#entry1868095

from what i understand, its best to start the course of the vaccinations now and then (if u dont have time to complete in your country) you can complete the last one in USA. AOS takes months to come through in which you have plenty of time to get the last jab sorted.

I have a question though...... Some vaccinations arent available in UK...does this mean that I dont have to get it or that i have to sort it out nd get them when I get to the USA (eventually!!!!!!!)

This is the chart I've seen before.

From what I can gather it applies to me and it will be done with 3 injections at 0 months, 2 months and 6 months. I'm still unsure about being able to get it from the nhs or even just paying at my gp. I think I will contact a London civil surgon in London and go have a chat with my gp.

:wow: , we are entering the last week of may and our petition has only been at the csc a paultry 26 days, and already I think I'm suffering from limbo syndrom lol. I also see that there are about 27 of us may filers on igors csc list (i found that bad habit on the january topic  )

Whats everyone else doing in limbo land? I was thinking about checking out my vaccination records and thinking about having a chat with my doctor as i think I'll need her hand writting at some point anyhow. I'm also thinking  about that hpv vaccine since it takes, what was it six months to finish the course? and dont you need it to complete aos?

What is everyone else doing while they wait on csc?

Igors CSC list....what is that??...I'm not sure if I seen that?

http://cse.ssl.berkeley.edu/igor/vjdata/stats.aspx somebody called igor created it from using the data from everyones timelines you can see stats between the different service centers and who else is still waiting.

Apparently any vaccination you dont have, the docs at the medical can do them for you, however this does cost a lot and so its better off doin it with your own doctor. What vaccinations are needed tho doea any1 know? AND whats the HPV vaccination? If u started it here can you complete the course in USA and does it have to be completed in order for you to apply for ASOS?

the hpv (think i got it right), its the vaccine for the virus that attributes to cervical cancer i think its the human paplova something or other. apparently if you are female and under 27 you need it, well thats what people have been saying and they also say its done in three injections. apparently its a new requirement. look in the united kingdom forum and there is a pinned thread from jeraly. she found the information about it.

as for the vaccinations in total i'm still looking it up i did find it on the embassy in uk perhaps you can try your embassy site.?

Thanks for the info on Igors CSC list...I found it interesting.

Thanks again, Ray

well I went to my GP today to ask questions at the desk, i started there and explained the problem as i wasnt sure whether to book an apointment to discuss or whether it would waste their time. was a bit wierd but then sometimes our sugery is a little so heres what happened.

explained to the desk that i need to mget some vaccinations for a visa im applying for but i was unsure whcih ones i needed as didnt know what i've had and one i was unsure if i could get there, i did make sure the option of paying for it was open so they didnt think it was ment to be free cos they can be pissy if you are not in the target group, and for hpv its 12 to 13 yrs old girls who are pre sexually active, in uk. after that its not cost effective.

ok after bringing up details a bit of um arh um. the receptionist asks what the other injection is, ( which is all im bothered about at this stage) i tell her hpv. then i have to explain what it stands for. oh the one to protect against cervical cancer  at last the penny drops.

can i get it here or do i need to go to london? i'll go chat with..... (im not sure if it was a nurse or doctor think it was nurse.) could you wait a minute?

 oooh she back . right the thing is its only effective if you have not been sexually active yet if you have not.... she looks like she doubts thats true  , she can do it for you if you want? if not then theres really no point in you having it! :bonk::wacko: IM FULLY AWARE OF THAT LOGIC IT HAD ALREADY OCCURED TO ME WHEN I REALISED I WOULD HAVE TOO FORK OVER A LOAD OF MONEY AND BE STUCK TO @#"%* THREE TIMES. Lucky that bit didnt come out. so i said i understood but i have no choice if i want the visa i said it is a marrage visa and i need to have it to pass the medical, and that the us gov wont be worried about that just that i have had it. she goes back to check. at this point its getting clear its about not waisting money, but problem is is it gunna mean not avaliable even if i would pay?

end result have to phone my doctor and explain my situation and if she is willing to do it, shemight be able to perscribe it

on a private persciption. ok translation, private means instead of 6 or 7 quid its gunna cost me my nose.! all that remains to be seen is if thats more or less than the civil surgon? and as for the if she is willing bit i'm not sure i'm abit worried that means she might turn round and say no just cos she doesnt belive i should have the thing  agg! i need a drink! :innocent::whistle:

Oh wow, rough stuff! I'll talk to Sarah when she goes into the doctor later this summer. Hopefully soon. I really don't understand why you need the HPV as most states here don't require it. Oh well, hope it works out for you. Could you get it at your medical? I believe they offer it but it is expensive - Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) - £120. http://www.visamedicals.info/us-price.asp

I have come to the conclussion that logic and common sence rarely means squat in this process. i may inquire with a civil surgon as to whether there are any

reasons that i would not be required it and if not then i will check with the dcotors, the main reason i thought of getting it done now is its over six months course and if i leave it to america it might delay things which i dont want at all, and plus i :crying: hate needs so would prefer i was jabbed as little on each occasion as possible, plus if its cheaper all the better

Nothing at all? :( I'm sure it'll be fine...I'm worried about it as well, but luckily we have Sarah's job writing a letter declaring as coming back on the day after her flight returns. ALso she'll have itinerary...so maybe that's all he'll need.
