Hair falling out...

My husband has started to "shed" hair ever since he came to the U.S. a year ago. He has very thick hair and never had a problem of losing it - until he came here.

He's only 25 and is not balding, but we notice more hair around the sink and he said that he notices it a lot.

Now he's always been pretty healthy and this seems strange. Has this happened to anyone else? Any ideas what could cause it?

He's only losing the hair on his head, and it's really not that bad, he just said this never happened before. I wonder if it's stress, change in diet, etc.

My "first hand" experience was not me, it was my wife who was only 28. This only happened just after moving to the U.S, and it only happened during the first year. Probably stress related.

Not that young - a lot of men lose their hair in their 20's.

Probably just a coincidence that it happened after he had moved to the US.

Is he on any medications? Prescribed or over the counter? Stress can do it too.

Have him make a list of what his normal food would before he moved to the USA and have him compare it to what he eats now. It could be the change in diet or just stress.

Do not just compare the foods, but also how the foods are cooked. American food has a lot of things that other countries have banned, like our soda has High-fructose corn syrup as do a lot of our other foods, in some countries they use sugar instead of High-fructose corn syrup. If he still has family or friends back in Brazil see if they can give you an idea what is in their products compared to what is in our.

None of that makes your hair fall out. Hair loss is genetic -- your diet, shampoo and stress levels make little to no difference.
