What side effects did you have? My sister has been taking it for 2 years and she loves it.

It made me gain between 70-80 pounds. I lost all of that within 7 months of going off of it without really doing anything, so yeah, it was that.

:o OMG no wonder you hate it! I gained about 5-7 pounds on Depo but I think part of that was my hubby came and I was cooking & eating more with him than alone. (Hope you are lucky and don't gain weight on the Pill, Pattu! )

PS My co-worker never gained weight all these years on Depo - she is 96 pounds and never diets! As usual, the effects of each type of BC will be totally individual.

I say, the diaphragm! It also doubles as a bathing cap for cats, or a satellite dish for your dollhouse.

As always, excellent post! Made me laugh out loud and I am home alone!

Aw, thanks!

I recently treated myself to a new diaphragm (ya know, 'cuz I'm worth it). It came in the exact same box (case?) as the first one I got in 1995 or thereabouts. It's a pink box with decorative geometric shapes on it, sort of 80s style. There was something oddly comforting about that. Like, today's hip young diaphragm-using gals get the same thing I got years ago--not something sleek and cool.

I wonder if my future is in diaphragm case design...

Maybe I will do what most of you guys are doing and just take the pill while with Govi and then stop when I come back, though I am tempted to stay on it just because lately my periods have been really painful - I only have a $5 copay so cost is not an issue but since I am (just) over 40 I am wondering how risky it is to be on hormones long term.

I love the pill, honestly, because of the shorter, less painful periods (and the obvious contraceptive use....)

But I look forward to the day when we can stop taking birth control and try to have a baby ;-)

I did gain weight though. However, I quit smoking for reals and started the pill around the same time so I'm sure it was a combo.

I take birth control pills. I think it's easy and of course, I love the 2.5 day periods I have now...

For those of you who had side effects.. I was experiencing that too at first. My doctor was able to finally get it right. I love 30 lbs while taking birth control (well I have a dress to wear next month!)....

The Pill.

They have this new thing out called VCF Vaginal Contraceptive Film, its really good no hormons and nothing.

This is what I am going to use from now on,cos I am not a fan of hormons.

For those interested here is the website:

http://www.vcf-contraceptive.com/sample.asp

They even offer a free sample.

The Pill... al though I really gained some weight and the side effects worn me out during the first few months of using it. Now, I love it since it made my beasts bigger (due to hormones?) and I have now shorter period with no PMS.
