The question is, does Caruso take the lampooning serioulsy?

Like all actors, he will take all the publicity he can get. Publicity in Hollywood is like money in the bank. Even negative publicity up to an extent. Just ask Britany how far negative until it hurts.

Not that I keep up with this stuff...but I pass by the TV occasionally. ;)

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Since there is no "H" in Cyrillic, I like what they call him when you watch "CSI: Miami" in Russia, Горацио (Goratsio)

Horatio Caine is the most ridiculous character name ever.

I remember when he was a street gang leader on Hill Street Blues. His persona on CSI Miami is peculiar, but so was Steve McGarret on Hawaii Five-O. Even the camera close-ups on him when he talks make him peculiar.

Both have bad skin.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

...his move back to television in the form of Horatio Caine on the CSI franchise has placed him square in the limelight. So much so, in fact, on a February 2007 episode of The Late Show with David Letterman, comedian Jim Carrey poked fun at Caine's habit of dramatically putting on his sunglasses mid-one-liner.

"I think that what happens to you is that once it [your character] becomes part of the culture, there's the discovery part and then there's the part where they have to have fun with it," Caruso ponders. "And that's cool. And that's also part of its arrival. When Jim Carrey did the impression of the character on David Letterman, he had fun with it. But there's also the part where it's a real affirmation going on there. And that's Jim Carrey doing an impression--regardless of what he does, that's not a bad thing. If he's going to take two minutes on Letterman to do Horatio Caine, that means that the character's arrived."

He and the show have not only arrived in the United States, but in Japan and much of the rest of the world. "CSI: Miami is the No. 1 show in the world, and it has understood embracing that," he says.

I noticed though after getting an HD TV that they use a soft filter lens on the close up shots of Caruso, but for everyone else, their pores are visible. I can imagine for him being as big a star as he is, he has some creative control over how he looks on camera.
