Boo Yah your heart is obviously in the right place. I think you should offer to financially support 1 single mother and her children. It's the right thing to do

So you are against helping one another? Wow what a sad thing to hear, all of us looking out for just ourselves. What is your solution, just turn your head, walk away, not your problem right.

It's the American way, doncha know???

To think otherwise makes you a subversive pinko commie!!!

And a jobless, protesting Hippie.....

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

I saw this earlier and think its a little misleading.

This report was funded by a few conservative groups who put focus on the family.

But I think that the real issue is that there are couples/single parents who are having children they can't afford. That costs tax payers no matter if the family stays together or not.

This is because real wages have not increased since 1973. Most men do not make enough to support a family, and since men are generally paid more than women, women have an even harder time supporting a family than men do. I have very consciously avoided having kids because I never wanted to end up a single mom and now most likely I never will have kids since I am getting too old to conceive. I hear stories like the recent case of a girl here in NYC(Nixmary Brown) who was repeatedly tortured, starved and finally beaten to death by her stepfather with her mother as accomplice and think why do monsters like these have kids when probably I would make a good parent but financially don't see a way it would be possible ...

I have to disagree. I think the American way is that you are apparently free to do as you please; regardless of the consequences. But it is usually somebody else who has to pick up the pieces and / or pay for a person's choices.

Edited by Boo-Yah!

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.
