They are looking for medical conditions that will make your fiancee inadmissible on medical grounds.

With most consulates you can defer the vaccination requirement until later to the time you file to adjust status in the USA.

Hi and Congrats on your approval!

We just went through the medical in Joburg. We went to Dr. Cobb. He is located very near the consulate. He is very friendly as is his staff. He'll do a quick exam and tell your fiance what shots he needs. Then they'll draw blood, send you downstairs for your shots and send you across the street for your xrays. Whole thing with shots cost about 1600-1700 Rand and took about 3-4 hours. All in all fairly painless.

The medical exam is only valid for 6 months. They are good about getting you scheduled fairly quickly.

Hope this helps,

Heather

Hey, only use the doctors in Johannesburg....We went to the doctor in Cape Town first....He took our money and then we found out that the embassy never re newed his contract.....Only use Johannesburg!!!!!!! after you get the P3, right before your interview date....once your send the P3 back, start calling the embassey everyday to get a date...it took us from 2/14/08 to 4/1/08 for a date!!!

Terry

Please, can anyone let me know what the medical exam is all about before the interview at the consulate? And what all shots my fiance has to have. Thanks and good luck to everyone!!!
