its not about just singing the anthem in spanish.. some people want the song to be sung ALONG WITH the anthem BECAUSE there are so many non-english speaking spanish people in america... theres just something wrong with that imho

the national anthem was composed in english. any recreation of such in any other language is a bastardization of it. if someone wants to sing it in spanish, do so south of the border.

not all spanish speaking people live south of the border - a lot of them in fact do not. So...if this is just a tirade against certain spanish speaking peoples you should be more specific.

the topic is about hispanics creating a spanish national anthem. the ones doing so are from south of the border. and such is playing on the bleeding heart liberals to buy into it, which already seems to be a foregone conclusion. i don't give a hoot what language anyone speaks, the national anthem is sung in english. and when the topic is posted about it being sung in outer mongolian i'll address that.

Its weird that in a country with so many freedoms, that we are so hung up on people using other languages.

I wouldn't presume to tell someone what book to read or what religion to follow. I could care less what language someone chooses to sing a song in. Not particularly important IMO.

The biggest problem IMHO is the lack of respect. They have come into our country illegally, now demand rights, and disrespect us by flying our flag upside down, or not even flying it at all but flying a mexican flag (yea buddy that gets your point across ) and now our antham. There is an antham for EVERY COUNTRY. It represents YOUR COUNTRY. We dont go to other countries and change their antham into our language, or change the words. When we go into another country we respect their country, NO MATTER WHAT IT MAY BE. I saw the changing of the United States (keywords there) antham disrespect, just a pattern in the line of disrespect given to this country, again coming here illegally, demanding rights they have no right to demand to, flying THE MEXICAN flag while demanding rights of an AMERICAN citizen, flying ours upside down (remember the country their in??i dont think they do) as disrespectful 100%.

Its certainly being used politically, as it is being associated with the May 1st protest.

Aside from that I don't see any disrespect in singing the song in a different language. I guess it really depends how important a national anthem is to you. The US one means about as much to me as the as the UK one.

"God save the queen" for example is an irrelevant sentiment in the modern age, whether its sung in English, Spanish, German or Swahili. The song itself doesn't express "britishness" - we have a monarch sure, but its a long time since Britain was a true monarchy.
