Why would you be leaving him behind? would this be for good or just until you have things sorted in the US?

Yes, you can apply for your son's SSN here in the US with his US passport or birth registration.

I don't know about all the other stuff.

I know that US citizens born in the PI, such as myself, can visit the PI whenever we want. And when we do visit the PI, we're normally given a lenght of stay for one year.

Do you mean leaving him in the PI while you go on a short vacation, or leaving him behind while you emigrate to the US? If its the latter...it begs the question, why are you contemplating leaving your one year old child behind?!? Regardless of whether its a "just until I get settled" situation....this is for all intents and purposes an infant, and should not be left without the mother for any length of time. Just MO.

The Philippine culture accentuates family, unlike the narcissism displayed in western society.

Whatever the OP's need or reason, I'm sure the child will have plenty of attention and be well cared for.

Your son has double citizenship, you being a Filipino, he obtained Filipino citizenship from birth , therefore, you can leave him in the Philippines with your relatives and not pay any fee to the Philippine government.

Nope!the baby obtained a US citizenship passport, therefore, he is not Filipino citizen anymore unless the baby parents apply for dual citizenship..they still need to pay every two months for the amount of i think 2, 600 PHP if the baby will stay in the Philippines..

ooppps! the baby can stay for a year without paying anything for staying but after that, they need to pay every two months if the baby is still in the Philippines..if the US Citizen child parent plan to attend their child in school in the Philippines, they have to get a Recognition for the amount of 30k to 40k to be able attend in school in PI..
