Can Mrs. Clinton Lose?

Unbelievable. I have to find out what abominable crime Mrs Clinton has pepetrated to allow for these kinds of comments. It's one thing to find her policies and beliefs contrary to one's own but all this transference of hate to her as a person is just bizarre.

I think its multi-layered. For one, she's a public figure and most public figures are either despised (ex. Brittany Spears) or adored (Princess Diana). Second, she is a political figure and politicians are often despised simply based on their political views as well as voting record. Third, she has said and done some things in during this campaign that have cause many people to wonder about her integrity. Bill Clinton faced a similar amount of despise. And then of course, she conveys to many, the embodiment of a strong feminist and some find that repulsive.

My overall impression is that both Clintons seem to have the capacity to be well liked by some, and really despised by others and it goes beyond just their political views. However, the same thing could be said about Nixon, Carter, Reagan, and the two Bushes. So while I think there may be an element of misogyny in it, I don't see her sex as fueling the flames.

Political leaders who have been on the scene for a period of time attract admirers and detractors. That's nothing unsual. But in the case of Clintons, the venom spewed out in their direction has been unprecedented. In the nineties, I remember watching in disbelief at Jerry Falwell's TV Gospel program, a video tape filled with truculent accusations against the Clintons charging them with every conceivable crime from smuggling in coke from Colombia, several murders (including Vince Foster's) to corruption (White water). Not only that, Falwell was selling those tapes to his audience. All the charges have been, of course, unsubstantiated.

I can't help but wonder if any politician on scene today could have weathered such an unrelenting and sustained onslaught of character assassination and still have the guts to carry on and fight for his/her belief that Hillary is doing now.

I wonder where Barack and Michelle would be today had they been subjected to such vicious attacks for the past two decades.

Indeed.

It is somewhat of a mystery. I posted an article with commentaries from leading conservatives about why Bill Clinton was disliked so much. My argument is that like Bill, Hillary carries with her the sentiment that many had toward Clinton and his presidency...for better or worse, rational or irrational. However, it would be dishonest to dismiss all the negative views towards Hillary as unsubstantiated. There's really nothing you can do to change the way people feel about a candidate or public figure, but you can pin them on what specifically they don't like about Hillary.

I like Hilary  I voted for her too! However I don't have an issue with Obama and if he were to win the primary then I would prefer him to any Republican't.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

Leave it to little d to take a post that was HUMOUR and turn it into an "All men hate women!" thing. I stand by my drama queen diagnosis.

I stand by my drama queen diagnosis too!

Don't care. You're not involved.

I still don't see, though, how calling someone out on their continuous labelling of those who don't support Hillary as woman-haters is "being a drama queen". Am I, and the other men so accused, supposed to just keep our mouths closed and take it? Maybe we are supposed to do what she does and report every damn post that contains a word or idea we don't like. That would be really fair to the mods, wouldn't it? Keep them from doing anything else because they're checking out all of my damn "reports" all the time.

No, I think I'll keep doing what I've been doing..... calling bull$hit when I see bull$hit. Until LaL asks me nicely to stop again, of course.

Ok d, you can have your groupie back now.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

No - calling our someone who doesn't support "hillary" as not being a woman hater doesn't qualify as being drama queen, you are free to do that! Anyone else is free to respond in kind. BUT OMFG! THERE'S SOMEONE ON VJ I HATE!!! I WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW ABOUT IT! every third post. That, my friend, qualifies as drama queen. There's a feature called ignore - try using it some time.

So much anger! Chillax - it's only at internet message board!

Yeah, I know. Some things just REALLY get me worked up. It's one of my faults.

Being told that I wouldn't vote for Hillary because I hate women/am afraid of a woman president is one of them.

Edit: Ah, I see 'd' has posted the "Help!" icon. That means she's reported me. Imagine that.
