Rowan Williams told BBC Radio 4's World At One that the UK has to "face up to the fact" that some of its citizens do not relate to the British legal system.

if one can't relate, emigrate.

This is pretty much how I feel.

I'm not saying that no one should ever protest the law, but if you come into a country and that country has pre-existing laws which you should have known of, then you should not expect them to change for you.

Oh oh oh I hear cannon balls a coming! Anyways it's not something that can be negotiated. By the way does Britain have separation of church and state? I am wondering if this is the Archbishops way of reinstating that but I am not familiar with the British law beyond that they have a parliament.

Church and state not separated which is weird when you think how little conflict there is between the two and how well accepted non establishment churches are these days. :P

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

Precisely. The UK has got to stand up for itself and put a stop to all this sh*t. If you feel the UK legal system does not apply to you, or you simply do not wish to abide by UK law, then F off and spurt your verbal diarrhea somewhere else.

I believe that's what spurned the big move to the US. :)

Christianity as an active, organised religion has been on the decline in the UK for some years now - churches have been having a tough time getting new people to fill the pews in their congregations, and most of the folks who regularly attend UK church services are in their 60's, 70's or 80's.

From what I've seen - most young folks who are into organised religion these days tend to be of the muslim faith - not surprising because Pakistanis, Indians and Bangladeshis are one of the biggest immigrant groups (largely to do with our colonial history with those countries).

IMO - its not really the fault of the govt's immigration policy (though it is flawed), or multi-culturalism but with a broader shift in british society that eshews organised religion.

Obviously organised religion, as a political force is rather more influential than a large number of disparate, individualist, apathetic atheists.
