When you have a rfe for the DS-230 can you get information from an operator? I really don't know what the rfe would be and would like to go ahead and send whatever they want/need to my husband so he could send it out as soon as he recieves the DS-230 back.

Did you get an RFE? What is it about?

I-130 Timeline with USCIS:

It took 92 days for I-130 to get approved from the filing date

NVC Process of I-130:

It took 78 days to complete the NVC process

Interview Process at The U.S. Embassy

Interview took 223 days from the I-130 filing date. Immigrant Visa was issued right after the interview

Yes, you can get this information from an operator. However, they can't always see or don't always tell you everything (just so you know) - I still think it is a good idea to call though as they should be able to tell you which documents - if any - are missing, or what corrections you need to make.

Don't forget that you still have to wait for the RFE coversheet or generate your own.

Well, my husband just managed to get through at the NVC and talked to an operator. She said that we got an rfe because we needed to send in photographs?! I can't find that back anywhere and apparently she said it was something new. I summited with all the original civil document a photocopy of them so I doubt that's what is missing.

Not much we can do than just wait for the checklist I guess......

The OP mentioned they just wanted to get the items together and send to her Husband so that they will be prepared when he receives the checklist.

When we got our RFE the operator told me over the phone what is was for. I had an old RFE sheet from the DS230 that I sent in with the documents that were missing. And everything went back to processing a lot quicker

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

I just talked to an operator myself and the RFE is a for a missing photograph(s?). She mentioned something about passphoto(s?) and it should be mentioned in the instruction page of the DS-230. I looked at the instruction and can't find anything about it. Just a copy of the biographic page of my passport, civil documents and copies and the DS-230 itself.

Does anyone know how many photographs I need and if they are suppose to be the American passport style (measurements?!)???

Ok that's really weird!

Anyway, if photos are indeed what they want they would be the same as the U.S. passport photos - 2 inches x 2 inches (5cm x 5cm) on a white background).

This is so weird you guys. This is the second post of someone getting an RFE for the photos. Didn't you guys send the photos along with the DS-230 when it was your turn? I sent the two photos of my husband along with form and all the other documents theys asked for because I'm pretty sure I read that on the instructions. Could it be that this piece of info is now missing from the instructions?

I'm confused because I'm more than positive that it asked for the photos or I wouldn't have sent them with the DS-230 back in August.

Yes there seems to be something amiss here. I don't remember if we sent a photo with the DS-230 or not, so no help there (but I think we might have as we do have a 'single' photo here, probably part of the set we had done), however I did find this on the New Delhi embassy site:

PHOTOS: Please staple one photograph in the square on the left hand side of form DS 230 Part I

But yes, as Diane mentioned - not in the general instructions.

Ooook, never mind. I just talked to my husband and he said that the embassy asked for 2 photos to bring with him to the interview, this was found on packet 4 (interview letter). So I didn't send anything to them.

So now the NVC changed procedures again and instead of having the beneficiary take the pictures to the embassy on the day of the interview, they are now asking them ahead of time without updated their online or coversheet information.

Way to go NVC!!! :ranting:

I called yesterday NVC, they indeed require 2 photos now. I haven't found this info on my appointment nvc processing instruction as well. If changes are from 29th I believe this forms haven't been updated yet.
