Hi All,

(Nervous and) Want to know a bit more about what to expect at the London medical, so typed up some of our questions and anything you'd like to add is welcome.

Many Thanks!

At the appointment do they give you a load more paperwork to fill in?

Do they request access to your NHS records or require a release form?

Should you bring a copy?

How long did you have to wait before being called in?

How long did the actual medical take?

In all how long were you there? (read recently where someone said hours!)

Do you have to fully undress and sit there in a paper gown the whole time?

Do they just *look* downstairs...or is it an actual exam?

Did you have a male or female doctor?

What did you think of the doctor like/dislike/indifferent?

Do you remember the doctors name?

Have a look down in the UK forum, a load of people have posted very detailed reviews of their medicals lately.

Thanks!

If anyone else would like to relay their experience I'd love to hear from you.

I'll try to recall what happened -- I was with my husband on the day he had his done.

At the appointment do they give you a load more paperwork to fill in?

Nope, just another sheet that asked the same stuff on the medical form you have to fill in in advance.

Do they request access to your NHS records or require a release form?

Nope.

Should you bring a copy?

Bring your vaccination records with you, if you have them. If you don't, get your vaccinations up to date. Bruce had to get the MMR and DTP done, and it was free at his GPs (other may charge), but it would have cost a bundle at Knightsbridge on the day. Don't need to bring anything else, unless you have/have had a serious medical issue (including mental health) in which case a letter from your GP explaining what your history regarding that issue is.

How long did you have to wait before being called in?

Freaking FOREVER! I was waiting with him, it took 45 minutes to be called.

How long did the actual medical take?

With all the bits and pieces (blood work, exam, xrays) I think it was 10 minutes all together. But there was a lot of waiting in between these bits and pieces.

In all how long were you there? (read recently where someone said hours!)

Hour and twenty minutes, I seem to recall.

Do you have to fully undress and sit there in a paper gown the whole time?

No idea -- didn't ask my husband. He came back in to the waiting room between the different parts of the medical, and he was in his clothes, so I assume you are allowed to get dressed in between sections.

Do they just *look* downstairs...or is it an actual exam?

Just a peek to see if you are what you say you are.

Did you have a male or female doctor?

Female.

What did you think of the doctor like/dislike/indifferent?

Abrupt manner, didn't seem to give a **** about being thorough (this was a dislike). Not the jolly experience others have had!

Do you remember the doctors name?

Sorry, no idea.
