Dog leash goths 'hounded off bus'

Not sure how it would present a safety risk to them or to other passengers since I would imagine they would sit side by side with the leash held loosely in his hand.

Not sure I'd want to wear a leash in public, but I don't see anything wrong with it. They both seem happy with the arrangement.

As a former leash-wearer (hey, isn't college fun!), the problem isn't when you're sitting down, but when you're standing up (as you often may do on the bus) and the bus stops short...you're still attached to that leash. On a crowded bus, you may inadvertently clothesline other passengers before your flight is abruptly halted by some leather and metal attached to your neck.

Fun, but I bet the resulting lawsuits would probably not be.

LOL....sorry, but your visual cracked me up...

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

The cultural perspectives of this world still amaze me.

I thought I had seen it all in my extensive travels, nope. Not yet.

Do we know they don't have jobs? Strange taste in clothing and hair styles doesn't necessarily equate to fecklessness does it?

That said, I don't get their particular fetish...but, then again, it's nothing to do with me either.

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

I don't get the whole Goth subculture - especially when it goes beyond a teenage fad. People in their 30's dressing up like The Crow. They should all cut their hair and get a job.

What's to say that a lot of the older goths that you mention, do not have jobs? A lot of members of the Goth subculture do have jobs, own businesses, etc. Just as a lot of members of most subcultures have gainful employment, own businesses, etc. Just because a person chooses a certain non-conventional lifestyle does not mean that they are welfare hounds.

And I bet some people don't understand why you had to go fall in love with a foreigner either.

Just because you "don't get" something, doesn't mean the objects of your ignorance are lazy and sponging off the system. In fact, quite a lot of us over 30 somethings who "dress up like the Crow" do have jobs, and contribute to society quite a lot.

A Goth club I used to hang out at in Toronto (before I moved to small town Bible Belt USA) was owned by a respected lawyer. The bartender was a stock broker Monday thru Friday. Most of my immediate friends there were tech-heads, including myself. I worked as a consultant at a major software company. There were also artists, clothing designers, record producers, actors, film industry techs, pyro techs, etc etc ad nauseum. And yes, occasionally some of us wore collars with leashes. BFD.

I've got a job, thanks. So does my husband. They're quite good, and neither of them involved us having to cut our hair or otherwise change our appearances.

I saw a couple like this when I was in Chicago. I think it's more of an attention issue. Like, hey they don't look at us anymore because of the makeup and outfits so let's add a dog leash to it.

There is no harm in doing something as innocent as this even if it does draw attention to yourself.

He cares about her a great deal, does everything for her and there were no H&S issues when they boarded the bus as he gave her the lead to hold so she wouldnt be in danger of choking if the bus jerked.

I say best of luck to them, carry on as you are. If they are happy and content then thats all that matters.

I was a goth in my teens and very early twenties, in fact I still gravitate towards wearing black all the time even now in my 30s. At my old job in the UK people always used to say "why don't you wear colours?" and I'd be honest and say that they didn't make me feel comfortable.

I've got a pal in her 40s who adores the goth lifestyle and it doesn't mean that she hasn't got a job (two in fact). She has 4 kids, lives in a gorgeous house in Wales and is one of the loveliest people I know.

Don't judge a book by its cover, cause I reckon you'd be surprised at the contents if you read even the first chapter. :D

Well the comment wasn't mean't to be taken particularly seriously. As it happens I have some friends in the UK (met through one of my old jobs) who were into the goth lifestyle. I used to hang out with some of them in Camden. Yes, they were nice people; but no, I do not get the whole dressing in black thing; or the music for that matter. Has nothing to do with the way I feel about them personally.

Of course, none of them led their SO's around on a leash in public... but lets face it; you have to be in a subculture of some sort to do something like that.

Now I have Joe Cocker's " Unchain My Heart " playing in my head.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
