Very true! I know a few people that have come here without a lick of English language knowledge. It's not a requirement for a visa. I admit, it would not be for me. But, to each their own.

You're going to laugh. I remember back in the day in Panama when somebody from one of the bases married someone from the "interior"(country),they would communicate in this make-shift sign language. It was a a funny sight to see.

I bet. I can't imagine it. I love to talk. Most of the time I'm not saying anything but I need to talk.

Me too. Can't imagine there's a lot of depth to a relationship like that. Or much chance of getting a visa.

I don't know. A lot of couples get visas who barely know each other and can barely communicate in a common language.

One of my best friends has been here for 23 years and still doesn't speak a lick of English, that's pretty sad.

His sweet smile, humility, compassion, sense of humor, nerdiness(like me :P), values, and kindness. He loves to try different things and explore new places - when we were traveling he acted more like a tourist than me  ) Plus, he's a wonderful dancer, and he likes super spicy food as much as I do.

And he has those wonderful Krishna eyes - *sigh* :luv:

you're slamming my relationship??? did you not read? i now speak Russian and she speaks English. before you bash my relationship look at YOUR sorry timeline. bit of trouble with the paperwork did ya have? If you had read closely i wrote "as we learned each other's language"

Dr. Bill

Calm down buddy, nobody's slamming your relationship. My timeline is sorry because the USCIS is so slow.I've known my SO for over 20 years,so be so quick to jump to conclusions.

My fiance's smile and full lips is what did it for me.

it is to bad Panamanian tried to start a very nice positive thread here, and Cynical people like Alex+R has to screw it up.

when you find "the right one" simply being in their presence is satisfying,

this process is already emotionally trying, and then someone implies you are not likely to get a visa.......way to be positive and support people going through the same frustration.

Dr. Bill

Hey,I'm sorry if I offended you,it was not my intentions,ok.

Did someone say more cats? Where's my husband when I need him?

Ha... hey Mags last night Rey said, "don't you think three pets is a little much?" in response to my idea about getting an italian greyhound when we move away from the city. Blasphemy, huh?
