How do you get an estimated approval date from the VJ timelines? Sorry, this may be a dumb question.

That is the part in your timeline that says "Based on the timelines, your I-129F may be adjudicated as early as ____".

Where exactly do you read that? When I go to my timeline, it just takes me to the area of editing, and doesn't say anything about adjudicating as early as..... What am I missing?

you have to file first the papers to USCIS.. then you have to wait for your NOA1. As you get your NOA1, thats the time that you can fill up your timeline. Simply, go to MY ASSISTANT on the upper part of this website then click EDIT or ADD MY TIMELINE..

Timeline here is not an assurance that your papers will be completed on the said date.. It always changes like mine.. Dont rely too much on your timeline here in VJ...

I think they meant why does their timeline not show up in their signature block.

You have to manually enter the dates into your signature block, from the 'My Controls' panel.

Check out the K-1 flowchart to understand how the process works and what each of your entries means. In fact, take the time to read through all of the information posted at the top of these forums to familiarize yourself with the process. You will not regret it. ;)

After you have sent your I-129f petition in you will receive an NOA1 (aka I-797). On this form will be either an EAC or a WAC #. This is your case number for the initial petition stage of the process and it is used to track your case. You can also get this number from the back of your cashed check. ;)

Once you have this number you can register with uscis.gov website to track your case. It will state that your case is pending until it is either approved or until you receive an RFE.... but now and then you MAY (or may not) see the 'last updated' date change... this means you are 'touched'. Each file, after arrival is given a bar code that adjuticators are to scan each time they are working on, or even just moving, a petition. We know that not all adjuticator's are created equally and not all scan so not to worry if you never see the date changed.

This is what we call 'touched'...

How do you get an estimated approval date from the VJ timelines? Sorry, this may be a dumb question.

I had assumed that the estimates were based on further input from the members here. As members update their time lines I thought the estimated times would reflect the new input. But I know, the old joke. One should never assume, you make an ####### out of you and me...as%-u-me. Meaning ME! That was the reason for a more accurate estimate, the more input the better the output. Estimates are just that though.

I thought I would add what is below in this pinned area so it doesn't get buried in the general topics.

Received my email notification of NOA2 from CSC on 4/03.

Call automated number for NVC and no record of it being received yet - 9 business days.

I entered my WAC # on the I-797 NOA2 notice I received in the mail in the automated setup.

Do I have to wait for the 4 weeks until I call to speak to a warm body? Seems to me most people are showing much shorter times from Service Center to NVC.

Reply:

You need to speak to a person at NVC. They probably already have it and will tell you if it has been sent on to the foreign consulate yet. The automated system does not work for K visas.

Final post reply by me:

Thank you for great advice. Just called moments ago. Received and sent already to USEM, Russia, on 4/13.
