I have a co sponsor for the I-134 for my fiancé. Co sponsor didn’t file taxes in 2024 due to being sick and just started on their 2025, which probably won’t be submitted until after the interview due to filling for an extension.

I have 2023 tax return, 1099 for 2024 and 2025 since it’s self employment, and bank statements.

Would this be enough for the K1 visa interview for an approval?

My Ugandan fiance is in Kenya. She was approved for K1 on March 12, and her three K2s already got their visas (Issued and picked up). However, her CEAC status still shows Approved after 2 weeks (with created and last updated date both being March 12). I inquired about her case via the contact that the embassy provides (VisitorVisaNairobi@state.gov), and I got this response:

 Quote

We have reviewed our records and learned that your nonimmigrant visa application is still undergoing administrative processing to verify your qualifications for this visa. Administrative processing often lasts about 90 days, but in some instances, it can take significantly longer.

I emailed them a second time to ensure this wasn't just a templated response and to get clarification since her case still shows Approved in CEAC (not Administrative Processing). Then they responded:

 Quote

The application is approved however, mandatory administrative processing was required in the case, and this is now being carried out. We have no control over this procedure and the length of time it requires. However, we have noted to contact you as soon as this procedure is concluded.

So I'm looking for advice from anyone with experience:

Should she keep waiting in Kenya, or request the passport back so she can return to Uganda to wait from there? I'm concerned that requesting the passport back before the case is officially in Administrative Processing in CEAC may slow them down from being able to process and issue the visa. My understanding is that if it's Approved in CEAC, the next step is Issued and they cannot go to that step if we take the passport, right? Will they release the passport if it's going to take a long time in AP?

(Side note for those who don't know: Kenya/Uganda are in an East African partnership where you can technically travel with just a National ID, not a passport. However, unfortunately, she came via her passport and, as far as I know from research, she cannot travel back using a different document than she came with.)

Maybe I can get a letter from the embassy explaining the situation and use a copy of her passport along with her National ID?

	Any ideas?

	Thanks!

I received an email on Feb 26 advising that the NVC received our approved I-129F petition and will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Montreal, Canada. I have read multiple things that are leaving me confused.

	1. I am unable to check the status of our case online. It always says "Your search did not return any data". I have tried putting NA in the passport number field and the name field, I've tried filling it out completely. I've tried just putting NA in the passport field. Still same results.

	2. Can someone please confirm the correct link to check the status of a K1 Visa as it seems to be different than other visa's? Maybe I am just in the wrong place? lol

	3. Should we be waiting for the letter from the embassy/consulate with the check list, etc before we file the DS160? I have read things that say to wait and I have read things that say to go ahead and file.

We are 2 weeks away from one year from our petition being received. Best of luck to you all, in love and quick processing times!

Thank you in advance for any assistance ☺️

	Hi everyone,

Adam (US/NYC resident and sponsor) and I, Carolina (resident in Spain, Madrid) filed our K1 visa on September 15th 2025 and got notified on September 17th 2025 of its reception at the Texas office.

We never got the NO1 to NO2 notification from the Texas Office we were expecting in January.

We have had no news from USCIS since September 17th of 2025. No petition of amendment, fingerprints or anything has been requested from their side. Just silence.

We found this website (visa journey) in January 2026 and we have been checking the waiting period statistics every week since then.

Last week statistics showed that September 9th 2025 applicants were receiving their NO1 to NO2 notification. This week it jumped all the way back to August 1st. It had never jumped back more than a month. Anyone knows how this data charts work?

Does anyone follow this statistics as well and know if they are reliable? Is anyone out there in the same situation? Waiting for a supposedly 10 month visa that is now 16 months or more? Is everyone's K-1 also being dailed one month...every month?

Every month since January the statistics have been pushing the waiting period a month further. This uncertainty makes short term and long term professional, family and personal planning stressful and impossible.

Thanks to everyone out there helping each other in this silent process.

	Kind regards,

I am sure this is actually an impossible question to have an answer for but how heavily do you think consular officers will weigh what is on social media vs the evidence they have in front of them? I am a very private person and hate social media in general so our pictures and stuff arent posted for the world to see. Any insight is helpful at this point. I know they are also looking for any anti-american sentiment but that is the least of my worries when it comes to my fiancee and am just concerned with relationship scrutiny.

My fiancé and I recently got the first our first approval for I129F.

Because she was previously in the US on J1 visa and subject to 2 year home residency rule, she had to go back and stay there for 2 years. We are quickly approaching the 2 year mark for the end of May.

Can she apply for K1 visa through form DS-160 before the 2 years is up? Can she do the visa interview before the 2 years is up? Because these processes will take several months and by the time everything is approved it will easily be through the 2 year period.

	Thanks!

Hi there. I'm hoping someone will be able to answer my questions.

Background: we applied for the K1 visa in August 2024 and USCIS approved our petition in January 2025. USCIS sent our application to NVC and we're currently waiting for NVC to get back to us.

I know that a police clearance certificate is needed for the embassy interview stage, can anyone from South Africa who is currently going through this process please advise how long it takes to receive the police clearance certificate.

Also, will the interview be conducted at the embassy in Pretoria or will it be done at the consulate in my city (Cape Town)

Finally, can someone please provide a list of all vaccinations required. I've heard and read that some are required while others aren't depending on your age.

	Much appreciated!

	Hello all,

I have two questions for filling out the I-134. I have been here long enough to know that I should just read the questions literally, but I tend to think too much and then everything goes gray. The main goal here is to not do anything that would trigger an RFE, so I would like to hear what other people have answered with success.

These questions are from form I-134, 01/20/25 edition

The first question is part 2, question 14:
How many other dependents do you support (including yourself)

This seems obvious that it should be 1, but then question 15, asks for a list all of my dependents, and says do not include yourself...
Is the consensus that I should put 1 for question 14?

The other question is for part 2, question 16:
What is your annual income?

At first glance, this seems simple, just add my wages and social security payments, done. But again, I started thinking, and in an effort to not trigger an RFE, I got lost.

I have a W-2 which lists Wages, tips, other compensation in Box 1, but that number doesn't include 401k contributions. Box 3 on the W-2, Social security wages does include 401k contributions.

Then, there is the tax transcript with its own amibiguities. There are two numbers that I might use, Total wages: which is the same as box 1 on the W-2, and Total income: which includes social security payments received along with the box 1 wages from the W-2, but again, does not include 401k contributions.

Do I just use the Total income from the transcript? That seems to match the question on the I-134, but it doesn't include the 401k income.

I feel like having the numbers match the other documentation is more important than including all of the income as I am far enough above the required miminum that it is not an issue.

What have other people here stated for their annual income?

Thanks,
John

She said in the interview that wanted to visit Pennsylvania and she said she doesn't have friends in there to get the b1 visa. If I petition for my girlfriend to come to Pennsylvania to get married, how can we ensure it doesn't affect her case if she said she doesn't have any friends there? We've been together for a year. What would the process be, and how long do you recommend waiting before applying for a K-1 visa since she was denied a B-1 visa?

	Hello,

Our case was approved by USCIS on December 16th, 2025 and the sent to the Department of State on February 18th. The NVC has still not processed the case as of yet. I've submitted a couple of inquiries, the first one said they haven't received our case. They told us to email NVCResearch with our approval notice, that inquiry told us that they received our case but they have not added it into their systems yet. I've submitted a third inquiry on March 26th, but have not received a response yet.

My fiancé and I are concerned because the NOA2 approval notice has an expiration date. Will the expiration date be a problem if there are further delays?

	Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thank you.
Also I've been told I'm wrong about this, but I've read on the NVC site that this visa is immigrant visa and that it must be treated as such when navigating the NVC / ceac sites.. I was told I'm wrong that I have to use non immigrant and start the ds160 and pay the fee and schedule his interview.... I'm so confused now. We've been "ready" status since Thursday last week.. Any advice would be great! Thanks so much 🙏
