Approx. waiting time for interview date from when NVC sends package to Embassy:

1-2 weeks for the embassy to receive the petition, the petitioner can submit the checklist electronically (embassy-mail), the interview date is assigned within a week of the checklist (KEV-1) receipt. On average, the first available appointment is about four weeks from the KEV-1 submission, but could vary.

14. DS-156 form – Nonimmigrant Visa Application (2 copies) and DS-156 K– Nonimmigrant Fiance(e) Visa Application (one copy).
• Every numbered part must be completed.
• Do not use dashes or the letters “N/A” or abbreviations.
Application must be presented by each fiancé(e) (K-1) visa applicant.
• K-2 applicants (children of K-1 applicants), K-3 and K-4 applicants (children of K-3applicants) complete only two
copies of form DS-156 – Nonimmigrant Visa Application.
• If the child is included on your passport, you should use your passport information to fill out the child’s application.

15. The fee for a visa application is $100 per applicant. Each applicant is charged in U.S. dollars. The cashier accepts only undamaged, clean notes (without stains, inscriptions, stamps).
16. Beginning August 25, 2003 the passports with the visas issued will be sent by the courier service to your address, the delivery and insurance cost is $8.
17. Proof of your relationship with your fiancé(e) (letters, telephone bills, photographs, airline tickets, etc.)

18. IMPORTANT! TO OBTAIN A VISA FOR A CHILD UNDER 16 ONE OF THESE IS REQUIRED: 1) Physical presence of both biological

parents; 2) Court decree giving one parent sole legal custody of the child; 3) Death certificates, in case one of the

Each fiancé(e) (K-1) visa and K3 visa applicant , including children (K-2 and K4) applicants must bring 2 photos size 50mm x 50 mm. The photograph of each visa applicant must be an unmounted full face photo with light background, taken within the past six months. A "full face" photo is one in which the applicant is facing the camera directly. The applicant should not be looking down or to either side. The face should cover about 50 percent of the area of the photo. It is preferable that the ears be exposed. The facial image should measure between 25 -35 mm. Photos may be either in color or black and white.
