....kids and I had our medical yesterday... Dr. Lee was really nice, but his office staff (one lady in particular) was horrendous!!!!

Because they could not reach me Monday (calling a wrong number) they cancelled our appointments. She kept speaking to me as if it were my fault (#######?!) and they were doing me the favour of trying to squeeze me in! To hell with that - after driving up 4.5 hours, she was not going to reschedule me.

We sat in the office an extra three hours (got to meet Bellez! Awesome to meet you!!) and finally left the office just before noon!!

Gotta say, for as stressful and as long of a wait that it was, my girls were awesomely patient!!!

Regardless, that nightmare is over and now on to the interview!!

Hey Canadians - anyone get word yet if they've actually shipped our files to Montreal yet or what?!?! My CEAC is still showing "At NVC"

I have a question about the vaccinations. I was immunized for MMR last in 1987 (born in 1985) and have the record stating this. Do I need to get a blood test done to show that I still have immunity for MMR? Also, I had Tdap done in 1990 but have since only had Td boosters, my last one being in 2010. Do I need to get another Tdap booster? And do I need to get this done prior to my medical exam? Thanks everyone!

The same for me, the Doctors only checks if you had it. (MMR) and for the Tetanus, it has to be within the last 10 years.

Hi! we got back from Toronto and had my medicals done, and I have to say, it was pretty straight forward at Drs Lyndon. Small details: We couldn't find parking, so we parked at the parking lot in Lodlaws! went in and got a croissant and coffee, and then walked to the Dr. 's office. 30 hour early, sat down, and the receptionist was on the phone when we got there, she handed me the forma and, then realized I had the wrong kind, a white paper one, instead of pink! I asked her about it, and she said she would fix it for me, which she did.

Anyways, the Dr was super friendly, and was asking me questions about my medical history, health issues, took my blood pressure, where I went to school, where I was moving in the States, what I am planning to do career wise, what degrees I had, where I went to school, etc... Then went and had my X-rays and blood samples done, first one in the basement, second one just across the street from his office.

Today, I got an email from his office with a tracking number for the medical results in the brown seal envelope.

and, that's it! :)

She did mention the technical glitch and that it still has not been fixed and then said I could expect an email my visa is ready in about 3 weeks. Could be longer she said. Just FYI for those enquiring.

That is really disheartening to hear if that is going to be the time to get a visa, especially when I was really hoping to bring my wife to the United States before Eid...

Awesome!!

Glad to hear they were so prompt and efficient!! :) :)

chanteuse - as long as you can show record of having gotten them you should be ok!! If you're concerned (and have time) talk to your family doc and ask for the titre test. This checks immunity levels and will let you know if you need any boosters.

Despite having read and researched a lot about this process I screwed up and my kids needed the 1st Hep B shot - in Canada they get it in Grade 7, in the US much earlier..... so we saw our family doc this morning, got the shots, and faxed the info to Dr. Lee's office. I will follow up with a phone call tomorrow morning.

I wasn't sure about what I had and hadn't....I had MMR when I was a kid...but I just told my family doc to just basically do a titre test for all of them to check...and she did and it just so happened that I was immune to Measles and Rubella but not MMR and so when I went back for Tdap booster she just gave me an MMR booster.

For Tdap you need proof that it was done in the last 10 years you should be good. Best to get it done before you Medical Dr Randall appreciated that I go t it done in advance and made up for the ones that I didnt have - made his life easier he said.

Thanks everyone. I just heard back from the Dr's office and they said my MMR is fine but I need to get Tdap (yuck...those things hurt).

I got my MMR and Tdap on the same day and boy did I regret it! I couldn't sleep on my sides for the entire week! Plus, it brought my immune system down so much I could hardly walk, had no strength at all. You, younger ones, probably handle those shots better :)
