Filling G325A - questions

Hello all, I am new here and I need some help (may look silly, but I really don't know how to fill and I didn't find specific instructions - at least for those silly questions):

1. What should I write on the up right corner: "file number: A…."? the example here says "none". Is it really?

2. On the "employments" space, name and address does not fit: should I put in two lines?

3. We are filling for IR1-CR1 visa. So I (the benefiaciary) tick the "status as permanent resident" and my husband (the petitioner) as "other: form I-130". Is that correct?

Thank you all very much!

1. yes...I put NONE.

2. Put two lines or add another sheet to complete the answer....

3. We put Status as Permanent Residence for both

Keep everything in a binder as you go...Will make it easier when you get ready to do the rest.

For 1: I've put my A number (alien number, also known as USCIS number) there (have one from when I was on OPT). If you don't have an A number then you'll definitely put none.

Answers:

  1. None
  2. Write "see attached" on the form and write the complete address on a separate sheet. Be sure to reference the question being answered on the separate sheet.
  3. Tick "other" and write "Form I-130"

I disagree with checking other...it says, "This form is submitted in connection with an application for:" My thought is that you are submitting this form because your spouse is filing for Permanent Residence not for some other reason....we did not get a checklist....but who really knows as we are all just DIYers. Looks like you can do either and be fine.

Disagree all you want, I don't care. I answered the OP based on how I did it and had zero issues doing it. If you want to talk semantics, the form is being submitted in conjunction with a petition (not an application) being filed by a US Citizen. The foreign spouse at this point in time isn't filing or applying for anything.

You make a good point. However, I would argue that the G-325A is independent of the I-130. The G-325A Biographic Information and the I-130 Petition for Alien Relative along with other documents constitute the application for the visa. Thus, explaining why the beneficiary of the I-130 is called an applicant on the CEAC website and why the G-325A says "application" and not petition.

In the end, it looks like none of this really matters....we both got through without any problems.

Thanks for making me think! Have a great week!

I've heard of people completing certain sections different ways and not having any issues.

~~~To avoid causing the OP any confusion, debates on how to properly fill out the form are no longer to occur in this thread.~~~
