Comments : I POEed through Halifax international airport. I got there quite early thinking it was going to take some time. Once i got to customs the lady there asked me a few questions "When do you plan to marry?" "Who is the person sponsoring you?" and she asked me several times "Has the address changed" She explained that is the most common problem. Once in secondary i had to wait for the family ahead of me which took only 5 minutes if that. The man asked me to fill out the I-94 and a couple other questions. He seemed taken back by the fact we were getting married in a hot air balloon. He said it might take him a few minutes because he had not done a K1 in a couple years. (This didnt worry me at the time but it took awhile for me to be put into the national database and i had trouble getting a SSN for a few weeks - not sure if it was luck of the draw or it wasn't processed quickly) It only ended up taking 20 minutes total. My experience was very good.

Comments : we were there fairly early so had a little wait. Overall it went very well. The interviewer "Sue" was very friendly and encouraging. She kept telling us that our file looked good and we were well prepared. She asked a variety of questions (Birth dateS, address, Full NameS, wedding questions, How we met, etc..). Explained the rest of the process to us and answered a few questions we had.

Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 24, 2010
Embassy Review : We got there early, 6:30ish. Another VJer was in front of us. People didnt start showing up until after 7am, then there was a steady stream of them.

They opened the doors just after 7:30am. Once through security we waited until 7:50am to go up in the elevator. We were the only ones facing the right way. The security guard pointed out that it would open the other way.

Once in the holding area we only waited for 10-15 minutes before they called us up to booth 9. Once there she directed Jay to go pay the bill. She asked me for...
Birth Certificate plus copy.
Passport and copy.
Police Check.
I-134 and supporting documents.
Letter of intent from both of us.

She asked me to sign a paper but never asked me to review anything. She took my fingerprints with no problem.

We returned to the waiting area and waited there until roughly 9:10am. She got us to swear to tell the truth and took a fingerprint. She asked us several questions
"How did you meet?"
"When did we meet?"
"What do we do for a living?" ( She then asked more detail about his job)
"Does he have insurance?"
"Will i be working?"
"When did we get engaged?"
"When was the last time i was in the US?"
She asked about my ring and more but i cant really remember what they were.

She then said she was glad to approve us and welcome to the US.

It took maybe 7 minutes and was very painless. We were out of there before 9:20am

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
