Embassy Review : Guys just wanted to share with all of u my Interview experience...
on 15th Mar....i reached at the VFS office abt 6.40 since i had purchased the coupon of RS275 FROM VFS which was actually a ripoff!!! as it only allows us to have a average sandwich n a tea/coffe from the cafee cofee day at the vfs off, honeslty its too much for it!!! neway .....cant figure out who wud wana eat@ 6.45am with butterflies in their stomach at 7.00 am the security czme n asked allthe interviewers for 07.30 to come out as the bus had come to take au till the embassy entrance...the bus was average, after payin rs.275 i expected better!!!..
After security checks( no cell phones or metal things, they ask u to remove belts which can be worn later)v headed inside where there was aseparte Q for immigrant visas...where v all went n had our finger prints done for all 10 fingers. There were lots off ppl....the rieck is to go early n as later it becomes v buzy with lots of non immi applicants coming!
The hall is quite big with couple of Tele sets, try to get something to read as u r about to get really bored..,around 7.45 my name was announced n i went to a window where an indian leady asked me
1-whos calling me to us?
2-when was the last time my wife was in india?
and then she returned to me my oginals docs like, marriage cert, birth cert, which was originally send to the NVC...i was so glad to finally have them back!!!..
Then the real pain started cuz i was anot aware that i will have to wait for so long, luckkily i was able to strike a conversation with a couple of K VISA applicants n v were trying to keep the atmosphere alive with all the tense faces around. There was only 1 window which was takeing all the immigrant visa interviews hence the long delay....the good thing according to me was that they were interviewing the elders first, which was quite ok with me but not my friends or others.
Finally around 11.35 my name was called n i headed to window 9 where a well built White man greeted me"How r u sir?" n i responded back "very well sir how abt u?".....[Wish if our indian officials could learn something from the american officals!!!!}]
The consulate officer asked me the following questions-
1-Whos calling me to us?
2-Where do i worl in india?
3-When was da 1st time i met my wife face to face? since mine was a different story then others, as i was working in a BPO in 2003 n v used to call US household to sell Directv n me n my wife 1st spoke to each other on the phone for like 1 n half fyrs before meeting n getting married...The officer was amused n smiled at my adventure!!
4-he asked me certain pics of my marriage i gave him 1 lot of pics which unfortunately had only my house pics n not of the official ceremoney of the Gurudwara where my marriage took place. He was quick to pint out" these r your house pics, where are the marriage ceremoney pics? n i thought they r in there but actually they were not!!!!
5-Then he asked me since me n my wife are of different caste, me sikh n she a hindu, whether v had married as per the law? I told him Yes and i have a Court marriage cert & a Gurudwara cert in the documents,i think he was not sure n went out for 2 mins telling me there is a indian law about intercaste marriages!!!!
My heart started beating @1000 knots per sec...lol i was so tense n nervous for a moment i thought thats it! i am doomed i am not gona get the visa!!!! but i took a deep breath n took the name of the lors n quickly checked my bag n there was another lot of my marriage pics which were at the gurudwara n reception pics.As soon as he came back i prompltly told him that i have some more marriage pics n slipped it under the window he said ok leme see them n qucily went thru them and then all of a suden,"SIR YOUR VISA IS APPROVED"!!!!!!!!!!!!
Guys i gotta tell u in every persons life there is a momet like none other n this was my moment of happiness.. i was bloody relieved after being put thru the tense moment.I came out smiling n releived, all the agonising wait of close to 5 years was finally over! My newly made K visa friends congratualted me n wished them good luck n walked out of the embassy.

So Folks this is my Mumbai Consulate Visa Experience....Hope it will of some use to sum1 here....if u have any questions feel free to mail me ..smartsud@yahoo.com.

Cheersssssssss!!!!!!!!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
