Consulate Review: Dominican Republic
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 3, 2011
Embassy Review : We stayed at Jardines del Teatro which not only is close by but also nice hotel and very good price. Our appointment was at 6:45am and my husband didn't want to arrive earlier than his scheduled time. When we got on the line there was a wait which went by pretty fast talking to others on the line. A guy with a yellow INFO shirt asked us for the appointment letter we showed it to him and he gave us a number. Like always the men line was shorter than the female line because my husband got in before I did. Once we where both inside we sat down and waited for our number to be called. We where first called for his fingerprints then called again to submit police certificate, pictures, and banco popular receipt. After that we sat there patiently waiting and just trying not to think to much about it. Finally after a while we where called to window 22. At first my heart was pounding but the African-American lady swore us in and began asking questions. My husband had a fiance 10 years ago who had put in a K1 application for him so the lady began asking us about that. She asked my husband what happend with that application and on the day of that interview. My husband answered her but she apparently didn't understand so I explained to her in English what he was saying. Then she asked to see pictures. My husband started to show her wedding album and she said if we had other pictures. I was just standing there while he was showing her and she would not even look at them. At the end she says it looks like it was all one vacation. I replied no it was not the pictures are dated. She asked us to have a seat and wait to be called again. After like 30 minutes she called my husband by himself. She asked him the following questions: 1. What happened with the K1 application 2. If it was a real why didn't you marry her? 3. Who are those in one wedding picture with guests 4. Why weren't your parents there? 5. Where does your wife work and what does she do? 6. What happend at the K1 interview? 7. Who is the little girl in the picture with you and your wife? 8. Do you or her have children? (I have one son he doesn't have kids) 9. Why don't you both have children together?. Then after all that she finally told him that his visa had been approved. To go pay Domex. I was never called in to answer any questions which in a way I was kind of glad.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
