Comments : My husband was waiting and waiting for his Appointment letter from the Embassy in Madrid. We sent them a fax and tried to call but never heard anything. Then I finally e-mailed someone at the US Consulate in Barcelona and a girl wrote me the same day saying the interview letter was sent a month earlier!! That he missed his interview. But that was not true, we are sure the letter was never sent. Well the girl at the consulate was kind enough to help us and schedule a new interview date. The US embassy in Madrid had been so useless to contact for any information.

Consulate Review: Madrid, Spain
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 12, 2009
Embassy Review : The interview for my husbands K-1 visa in Madrid went fine I guess. I was with him. We were a little disappointed that they didn't ask more questions. They seemed mostly interested in if they thought we had enough money.
Our biggest complaint about the Embassy in Madrid is that it is virtually impossible to contact them for information or help. My husbands name was spelled wrong in the California processing office so when the information was sent to Madrid we tried calling many many times to the number for visa information... no one ever answered the phone. We sent a fax clearly explaining the error... no one ever got back to us. Finally I contacted the Consulate in Barcelona and they took care of it for us. Then we were waiting and waiting for the interview letter to come with the date and it never did. We contacted the consulate in Barcelona again and they told us we missed it, that the letter had been sent a month before. We are very sure that it was never sent. Luckily the consulate was very helpful and they scheduled my husbands K-1 interview for us.
Rating : Very Poor

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
