Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : CDN-USA Border
POE Date : 2009-12-15
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : We packed everything into my Ford minivan and left on the evening of December 14 and stayed overnight at a Best Western in Sarnia.

At about 11AM the next day, we crossed at Port Huron Blue Water Bridge. We were in line for about 30 minutes before it was our turn. Since I did not get my automatic window fixed, Roland had to open the door to talk to the CBP lady. She was not very happy about this and asked how long it was broken for. Anyway, she took our passports and the K1 Visa package and gave us this little orange slip and asked us to drive to the secondary inspection area where all the offices were. We were told to leave our cell phones and take our wallets with us and surrendered our keys to the officers.

There wasn't much of a line at this point and one officer took our case. Then he passed it onto another officer who took care of our car import. In all, this took about 1 1/2 hours to complete

All in all, a good experience! Hello USA!

Lots of touches so far, but no approval. Hoping that it's the same situation as it is with the AP :)

Got the e-mail on 3/22 that our card production was ordered! Approved without interview and thank God for no RFE's! :)

GC received 3/27 (PR since 3/18), along with Welcome letter :)

Total time from filing to receiving GC was 2 months, 1 week, 5 days!

Consulate Review: Montreal, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 21, 2009
Embassy Review : We got to the consulate at about 7:15AM on November 20, 2009. There were about 20 people lined up in front of us. At about 7:50AM, the doors opened and we slowly filed in and went through security checks. They don't mention on the form that liquids aren't allowed, but they do check for it. I had my hand sanitizers in my purse, which they let me keep, but forgot about my USB key, which they temporarily took away and gave it back after my interview. At about 8:30, a group of us sat in a room right next to an elevator, and a security guard took us up to the 19th floor. We then went to counter 14/cashier and got a number (A1, B2, C3, D4, for example). The cashier was really nice and gave us our number C8. We had to wait a while for our number to be called. At about 9:30AM, our number was called and we went to counter 10. A nice lady went through my file and made sure everything was filled properly (everything was fine) and gave me a slip to pay at the cashier. Since we didn't have enough of USD, we paid in CAD which was fine with the cashier. We then returned to counter 10 and the nice lady continued with the rest of the paperwork and told us to wait a couple of minutes for our number to be called. About 15 minutes later, we were called to room 8. The room was just a room with a man behind the counter. He smiled and said hello to my fiance and I. We said we were nervous and he said not to be because we've already made it this far. He then asked us the usual questions, how we met, what I plan to do for work and what our plans are in terms of a wedding. Very straightforward. And then he said he was pleased to extend us our visa and that it would take 7-10 days.

Overall, despite the waiting, it was a very pleasant experience. Everyone just seemed so nice.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
