Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : JFK
POE Date : 2009-05-29
Got EAD Stamp : Yes,Passport Stamp
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 0
Comments : We heard that JFK was a good POE but there are so many international flights coming in that my husband was in the Immigration room for 4 HOURS waiting to be processed. I got nervous since I couldn't speak to him. Finally I asked someone from Royal Air Maroc to check if he was there and if everything was OK. Luckily, everything was fine but it took way too long with 1 officer trying to process 60-70 people and each person taking 5-10 minutes. So, it might take longer than you think if it's a busy time at the airport.

Comments : We had a very quick interview. She only wanted to see our joint documents. She said she had looked at our AOS packet prior to us coming in the room and all looked fine. She didn't even look at my tax returns or pictures but I did put all my paperwork on her desk including the albums. She asked my husband where he was living and he gave my address. She asked him what his Social Security number was and if he was working. She asked if this was our first marriage and if we had kids. That was it. We were in there for about 6 minutes total. She gave my husband his approval letter and said his greencard would come in the mail soon. All in all, the best Immigration experience yet.

Consulate Review: Morocco
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : May 14, 2009
Embassy Review : My fiance had his interview in Casablanca on May 13, 2009. We had loads of evidence and he speaks English well. Unfortunately the woman who interviewed him felt that we might be fraud even though I had been there 6 times and we met while I was on vacation in Morocco 1 1/2 years before. She was concerned that he left a couple jobs and wondered if he was fired from them. But he left these jobs on his own. As many people have said in the past, the CO's make quick judgments and don't really allow the fiance to answer. There were a couple other issues she was concerned about and was not being nice to him. She also asked him what he would do if his Visa was denied.

He was very upset and said that I was in Casablanca with him and that I could come to the consulate to further explain. So, she said she would call us in a few hours. I went into the consulate 1 1/2 hours later and talked to the same woman who first interviewed my fiance. He was not at the window with me. I explained everything to her and she asked me many questions about his work, our relationship, if I've been with him each time I was in Morocco and she explained how much marriage fraud is coming out of Morocco. She asked a few questions in regards to our emails which I easily answered. She didn't want to see our pictures and didn't ask for the financials.

I said I understood there is a lot of marriage fraud but this was not the case with us and shared more specifically about our love for one another. I was very honest and actually started crying because I was overcome with emotion about what he means to me. We spoke for about 10-15 minutes and she said "I'm very glad you were here because it all makes much more sense to me now." She told me to call my fiance up to the window. At that point, she said to us "Congratulations, he will receive his Visa in about a week." She gave us the 221g form and so now we will wait. She asked if he wanted her to keep his passport and we said "Yes."

I truly feel that if I were not there in Casablanca to fully explain away all the CO's concerns, that he would not have been approved. So... I feel grateful that I was there. It's scary that these CO's can make such rash decisions and if the American fiance is not there to validate and uphold the Moroccan's claims, they don't believe them. I also don't know if they typically allow the American fiances to come into the consulate to explain but luckily she wanted to hear from me. Now I hope he gets called sooner than later. These CO's are really tough so I suggest everyone do their due diligence and discuss all possible problems before so you have the answers you need during the interview.
Rating : Poor

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
