Consulate Review: Amsterdam, Netherlands
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : August 9, 2009
Embassy Review : Hard to believe it is already 2 weeks ago that we were there.
Things go really fast after you are approved.
Anyway, it was a good experience for us, we picked up my fiancé from the airport, took the train to Amsterdam Zuid, got on tramline 5 and after a little walk around, we were way too early, and got in line.
As it turned out, we were first for the immigration visa's, which saves a lot of waiting.
My fiancé was allowed in some time after us, since they had to check his suitcase and laptop. We had to place to leave those somewhere behind since we were by train.
In the meantime I got to hand over my papers to the lady behind the window.
There was a bit of confusion over one of my papers, which looked like a copy, but wasn't.
I got a compliment on the way the letter of consent from my ex for my son was set up. He is going with me on a K2.
What I did was make a letter myself and take that to a notary, they provided us with one notarized original and 4 copies, well worth the 20 euro's.
By the time we were done my fiancé got in and we had to wait for some time, there were a lot of people waiting there and some had to stand, not enough room to sit down.
Than we were called to the second window, we went there all three and got a big smile from the person behind the counter.
He asked my fiancé what his job was, where he worked and from there they ended up talking about a beer they both know is brewed in a place close by.
I hardly had to say a thing.
I did have to swear that I would marry within 90 days and he wished us luck.
Told us we had a special case, they had to switch info from one computer to another, but didn't say why.
That was Monday, on Friday our visa's arrived with the closed envelope's

It was easy and relaxed.
When you have all the papers, there is absolutely no need to get nervous.
People are friendly and if your other half is there, bring him or her along
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
