Embassy Review : Ok so I had an appointment at 8.30, i did want to arrive early but wanted to have breakfast at the hotel which was at 7.30 (good idea to fill yourself up as you will be waiting a while!) so i ended up getting to the embassy at 8.15. There was around 10/15 people outside so i was through security and sitting in the waiting area at 8.25am.
There was around 200 people waiting in the waiting room but there were still many seats free. I got number I862 - was expecting 5000+ as going for IR1 but i guess not. Anyway they were very very slow at calling the I numbers, at some points there were no I people at any of the windows (as on the screen it shows which number is as which window.)
At 10am I was called to window, British guy checked through docs, asked couple of questions, ticked a checklist, asked when i would be travelling etc. He already has 2 passport photos of me so waste of 9.99 for the 2 new ones i had got done for interview!!!
Anyway got told to fill in courier form and sit down again. Was only around 25 mins till was called to interview, a little nervous at this point. I got the nice yound dark haired american lasy, she was nice but really stares in your eyes which made me feel abit uncomfortable!!!! She asked about 20 questions, including:
when did you meet
when did you marry
where did you marry
what does he do for living
will you work in america
have you ever married before
do you have children
does he have children
how do you keep in contact
when did you get engaged, that was very quick
how many times have you met
have you ever had trouble with immigration
which countries have you lived in for more than a year
when do you plan to move to US
where will you live in US

She typed up some things i answered and after she finished asking questions she was doing stuff on the computer for a while, i was thinking what is she doing?! It wasnt too bad when she asked the questions, it was quite relaxed. She didnt look at one thing i had brought - had a big folder with me with lots of evidence. I was going to offer some pictures for her to look at, but there never seems an appropriate time! so i just thought if she asks i will show them.
Then at end she said "well since all we are waiting for is your medical results, i will keep hold of your passport as so long as everything looks ok i would be delighted to issue you with a visa". She was very sweet and smiled like she knew how much it means! I was struggling to hear her to be honest and felt like i was really shouting at her! there were kids running round and people making alot noise!!
Then she said good luck and i went to [ay for courier, which i think is very expensive - i think we have paid enough so far!!!!!
I went and had a drink at starbucks and wrote down what she asked me as i knew i would forget and wanted to tell hubby!!! I took a big sigh of relief as that is all over with! I did feel like walking down the street smiling and laughing but as i was by myself people would of thought i was abit strange!!!
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
