Consulate Review: Bangkok, Thailand
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 18, 2009
Embassy Review : My fiance's interview was on June 18th 2009 scheduled for 1 pm. She arrived about 1 hour before to line up outside; Approximately 50 other people were on line. They were let in, she waited a short while to submit her evidence and then waited to be called. The approximate wait time was about 1 hour. The interviewing officer was a young lady who could speak Thai fairly well. My fiance was asked 4 questions:

1. How did you meet?
2. When did he return to the United States?
3. Since he’s been back to the US, how many times has he come to visit you?
4. I saw the F1 visa on your passport, but it was for only 3 weeks. Why was it so short?

She was told to return Tuesday, June 23 to pick up the visa. My fiance estimated about 10 to 12 others there for K-1 visas. She was the third to be interviewed. The first did not receive the visa due to a lack of evidence of proof of ongoing relationship. The second lady and my fiance both got theirs, and she's unsure of the rest.

POE Review: Washington DC
Event Description
Entry Date : 2009-07-03
Embassy Review : She arrived shortly after 11 am and spent only 5 minutes or so at Immigration. She handed the lady the brown envelope and was asked a few questions like "How did the two of you meet?" "When did you last see him?" and "When do you plan to get married?" She was not finger printed nor was she given any further instructions regarding Adjustment of Status.

She had brought her dog with her from Thailand and had all the appropriate paperwork, yet the Customs officer did not ask to look at it nor did he remove her dog from the kennel for a physical inspection. Instead he asked her a couple of questions about the dog food she had brought along.

The entire process took less than one hour and I had gotten there at noon on the dot; she walked through the doors about five minutes later.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
