Comments : It seemed like they scheduled all the Iranian applicants for the same day & time. So everyone was jostling at the front gate waving their 8:30am appointment letter. All the Iranians ahead of us got put on AP and a few got denied. At first we were called up to one window to pay the $400, then asked to sit back down. Then we were called back to another window for fingerprinting and asked to sit back down again. Then we were called to another window to be interviewed together. They asked us if we really lived together in Istanbul, if our family was able to attend the wedding, why we moved to Istanbul, how we were supporting ourselves. Then they asked me to sit back down so they could interview him alone. They asked him what my father's name was, asked about his education, work, military service, etc. Then they told him there would be some additional processing necessary and handed him the blue slip and his passport. :(

Update: We weren't really interviewed when we returned to the embassy after our case number appeared on the website. They just asked for his passport and the blue slip so we slid it under the window. Then the CO wrote his first name and the number 1 on a little white card and told us to go to the UPS desk. So we went there and gave our address in Istanbul but didn't have exact change (12 lira) so he told us to just pay 15 lira in cash on delivery and we left with a great sense of relief and excitement. =)

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
