Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : March 5, 2009
Embassy Review : All:
Finally got my fiancee to write all the questions down and send them to me so I could post here and in the Embassy section.
We got approved but looks like she got grilled with unending questions. Don't know what their trip was but we got approved and that's what matters. They never asked to see any supporting documentation, however. Just looked at what I had submitted at VSC.

Interview Date - March 2 @ Mumbai

<<< Here's her account... Looks like she spared no details as she wanted to make sure everyone had the benefit of her experience >>>>>>

Reached US Consulate at 6:40 am
Was asked to wait away from the Consulate Building near Embassy House near Bank of India
The officer came at 7am
Gave necessary instructions.

Things one cannot take inside the consulate:

Interviewed by an Indian Male officer
Wanted to see the passport handed over both old and new passport.
Old passport returned and new passport retained.
Handed over the draft of Rs 6812
Medical reports sealed packet was opened in front of me papers attached to the other papers in the file.
The officer returned some of the papers submitted at the VFS Kolkata
Emails, Phone bills, original Birth Certificate, and other papers attached with the I 134
Interview Questions

7:50 am to 10:10 am waited patiently for the second round of interview
Got very nervous as all applicants around me had a small pink token in their hand which had a number
They were called at the counter by their number
Finally heaved a sigh of relief when I met someone who was without the pink token
Decided to speak to one of the staff assisting the applicants
We told him we don’t have the pink token he told us to tell the officer that we’ve lost it.
Had to wait didn’t know what to do.
10:10 am final interview call was called by name
Was asked to go to counter 16.
Went inside with all the things, kept the file and others on the counter and greeted the lady officer.
She greeted me too.
Wanted to know if I could speak in English or would like to answer in Gujrati.
Took an oath - I swear that I will be true…………………

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
