Embassy Review : I want to thank you visa journey for all the help and advises in this process.
Even thou in my opinion we had a strong case, our case was a little complicated because me and my daughter were born in Peru but live legally in Mexico. I already have the Mexican nationality since 2007 but my daughter is still Peruvian. It took some time for us to collect all the documents from Peru and from Mexico that request the USCIS and NVC. USCIS approval took longer than usual for us because of our country situation. NVC was a lot faster and easy as usual.
Interview date for my daughter Dec 5th, 2011 ( my daughter’s interview was first which I thought it was weird because im the principal applicant)
Interview date for myself Dec 7th, 2011
My husband (American citizen) , daughter and I Arrived to Ciudad Juarez on Nov 28th 2011 night because the medical for children request to be at least 4 days before the interview.
Took a taxi from the airport to the hotel for 245 pesos and was about 15 mins.
Had reservations in hotel MICROTEL that is incredibly close to the consulate, clinics for medical and has everything we need for our stay (less than 3 minutes walking to consulate, medical and CAS and a Mall with movie theater crossing the street )
Arrived to Medical on Nov 29th very early but the medical we choose was full so they send us to another clinic very close walking distance. They check our passports and Paper with the Consulate appointment date, gave us a number and let us wait.
For women the did chest X ray, blood taken, eye test, blood pressure, weight and height . Ask for the birthday of your last child. Then in a private room the doctor tell you to put a hospital gown and check your body very quickly and ask if had tattoos, surgeries, if smoke, if had law problems in the past.
Then if you don’t have the vaccination record, they give you all the vaccination they think you need. I did not brought my vaccination record so I got like 4 vaccines. They told me to pick up results the same day at 2 o clock ( black envelope that should not be opened by us). After that went to cashier to pay for the medical and vaccines.
For my daughter it was very fast, they check weight and height. In a private room make her stay in underwear and a nice female doctor check her and pat her belly. Then since I forgot her vaccination record they gave her like 5 vaccines according to what she was needing. At the end they gave her a TBC test on her arm and were told to come back in 2 days to check test results. After that went to cashier to pay for the medical and vaccines.
They medical and vaccines for me and my daughter was very expensive, in total I payed more than 10,000 pesos for both. So I recommend to bring your Mexican vaccines record in you have it.
Two days later we went to medical to check TBC results for my daughter’s arm and it was ok. So we were told to come that same day to pick up our results ( black envelope that should not be opened by us).
On Dec 3rd me and my daughter had the CAS appointment, it was very fast, they asked for our passport, Consulate appointment date letter and DS260 document. They took a picture and fingerprints and put in the DS260 a sticker with the date and time of the consulate appointment and instructions for DHL.
On Dec 5th me and my daughter went to my daughter’s interview, on this time of the year is pretty cold so go very well covered. Went thru security check ( just bring the necessary with you because they will make you throw it or go back to leave your unnecessary things in your hotel). Checked my daughter’s documents and give her a number. Went to first waiting area ( a half opened area with a screen that shows the numbers and the window). We waited there for more than a hour, it was cold but we were well covered. Our number showed up, went to the window and a nice guy asked for the passport, ds260 and affidavit of support. Send us to sit and wait to be called again. Luckly the second waiting area was inside the consulate so it was not cold. But the waiting was incredibly long, we lost the sense of time, start getting hungry, bored, etc. I think it took like 3 hours to be called for the second time. Finally our number was shown in the screen and we went to the interview, they asked my daughter her name and the name of the petitioner. They asked the divorce documents of my husband and myself from previous marriage. Asked where and how me and my husband met. Asked if my husband came with us to Ciudad Juarez, which he did and she said she wanted to talk to my husband , gave me a blue paper that allowed me to leave the consulate and to came back with my husband.
We went back to the consulate with my husband and went directly with the lady that gave us the interview. She wanted to talk to my husband alone, then wanted to talk to me alone, finally they told us to wait to be called. Waited for about 30 min and we were called by another lady that told us to come the next day at 8 am to another interview. OMG.
Went back the 3 of us the next day, it was freezing, It snowed the night before. There was a lot of people at the entrance of the consulate so we had to wait a long time to go inside the consulate. Pass thru security and wait in the first waiting area for an hour again. I was freezing. Our number showed in the screen and a nice lady told us she will interview us separate again in a closed room. My husband went first then I went. She asked questions about how we met, what we do for a living, about our families, about our studies, about ex partners. Luckly we know each other very well and we did it good. They asked me to give them pictures of our wedding and I gave them the whole wedding photo album. She told me she will need to take some copies of the pics and that it will take her about 2 hours, told me we could wait inside the consulate or go out to have lunch and come back in 2 hours. We went out for lunch and came back, again went to security and waited for our number to be called. They called us to tell all our papers were good and my daughter had her visa approved. Also told us that since we had the interview done for my daughter they will leave notes on my documents for my interview so mine won’t last as long as my daughter’s and luckily mine will be easy.
On dec 7th I went to my interview, same long waiting, finally my number showed up on the screen and went to my interview, the interviewer was an American guy that talked to me in English, ask my full name, who my petioner was, how we met, ask if I ever went to the USA ( I didn’t ), asked what my job was (talked to him about my job) and finally told me Congratulations, your visa is approved! And even joke with me about if there was any available page in my passport where he can stamp the visa because my passport was a little full lol. I felt like crying of happiness, It was awesome! Finally after 4 years we got it! Thank you God!

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
