Comments : My fiance requested an EAD Stamp, the border patrol told him that he would need to get that at his local office. When he contacted the Charlotte office, they told him they don't give them out anymore. That when the border is busy, they push people away with instructions that will not work.

Consulate Review: Vancouver, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : December 26, 2007
Embassy Review : I had my interview scheduled for 1:00pm on November the 19th in
Vancouver. I arrived at the consulate about 25 minutes early from my
hotel and there was no line outside. I opened the door and handed my appointment letter to the security guard. They immediately asked me to remove any metal and empty my pockets. The security guard was very courteous and nice. After I passed through the metal detector I headed up the stairs and
through a door, where another security guard let me in the elevator
and scanned a card to let me go to the 20th floor. When I got off at
the 20th floor there was another security check point like the first,
and I again gave them my appointment letter and they searched my
things and I proceeded through another metal detector. All of the
security guards were very nice and made things quite easy. They then let me
into a waiting room where I sat for about 15 minutes until I was
called up to a window where I was asked to spell my Fiancee's name
twice and to give the required paperwork to the lady in a certain
order. This lady also happened to be easy to deal with. Then I was
told to sit down in another area of the waiting room, I sat for about
2 more minutes until another lady took my finger prints and then I was
moved down to another area where I waited 5 more minutes until my
interview started. My interview was done by another person who was
also very nice. It lasted for about five minute. She started by asking
me who I was, and then proceeded into some very simple questions. She
asked me where and how my fiancee and I met. Then he asked me when I
asked her to marry me and when we wanted to get married. She also
asked me if I was going to work in the US or if I would become a ward
of the state. I of course said no, I plan to work. She typed a little bit and smiled and told me that I was approved and that this was her favorite part of the job. She told me to go wait at another window for instructions. After
a few minutes of waiting a lady came over and gave me a sheet. She told me everything was good and that I could come back the next day at 2pm to pick up my visa.

I returned the next day and there was a line outside the door, I
waited in it for a minute and then went and asked the security if I
needed to wait. He said that I did not, they let me in and I proceeded
through security and back up to the 20th floor. There I waited a bit
and was given my Visa.

The whole process in Vancouver was a delight considering the amount of
time we had waited to get to the interview, all the staff there was
great. I would recommend bringing as much paperwork and information as
possible just in case you need it as the girl that was after me seemed
to have a much more in-depth interview. I would also suggest Bringing
your X-ray even though most of the time they don't ask for it. It is
better to be prepared then to not have things if you need it. I would
also suggest being as organized as possible. I had everything very
organized in a divided folder and it seemed to help the whole process
move even smoother.
Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
