Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : We arrived at the Embassy at around 5:30AM and our appointment was at 7:30AM. They let us in around 6:30AM I believe. We sat inside the embassy and they let the 7:00 appointments go first with getting their ticket number. Then we went with the 7:30. We waited and they called our number to do finger scanning. She had trouble with the finger scanning and had to do it about 3 times. She told me it was because of her allergies that day. They said it was good and we waited again.

They called our number after a while to go to the Pre-screener. There he asked for my affidavit of support and the rest of the DS forms. He asked a few questions. When did you meet your fiancé? Where did you meet? How many times have I visited. He also asked for some photos and we handed over the little photo album we had of us together.

Then we waited a couple hours and finally they called our name to be interviewed. We both went in the room and they interviewer asked us some questions. First he asked me when I fly in. I told him the day before and he laughed and said your not fit to answer questions your probably suffering from jet lag. He than asked my fiancé the same questings the pre-screener asked. He also asked how old she was (funny note, she was really nervous and said she was a year older than she actually was) and how many brothers and sisters she had. Then he asked me where I worked, and where I lived. After that he said "I see you have some pictures" but he didn't even look at them. He then said that everything looked good and wait for our number to be called. I didn't ask for Visa pick up because we were a couple of hours away from the embassy and we were leaving a little over two weeks from the interview.

They called our number and they gave us back our pictures and a pink slip and said that everything was good to go and just to pay delbros. So we did that and waited for our visa.

After about a week and a half we called to see why the embassy hadn't released our visa. They said that she had to redo her finger scanning and they knew a week beforehand. I was pretty upset that they didn't bother to contact us about it. We couldn't go then because we had to be there at 10am. The next days were Saturday and Sunday and they said they were closed that Monday. So we had to go the next Tuesday and our plane leaves on Thursday.

So we go there and redo the finger scanning. We waited an hour and a half just for that. They lady who redid the finger scanning was very rude and kept shouting at my fiancée to press harder. Then shouted at me to press her fingers down. After we were finished she said "OK just go home". I said is there any chance we could pick up the visa because we leave in a few days. She said no way. I told her that they never even notified us and it was a bit unfair and she only said sorry. So when we got home we called and they said there was nothing they could do, and the best thing to do would be fax team 4. So we did that and was denied the visa expedite. So I went back home alone without my fiancée.

If it wasn't for them not notifying us about the redoing of the finger scanning and the rudeness in which they treated us the second time we were there I would have gave the embassy a 4. But instead they get a 2
Rating : Poor

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
