Embassy Review : |
My interview was quick and easy.
The US Embassy in Tokyo has a photo vending machine (if you're having trouble finding a place to make the size of pictures needed, drink vending machines and restrooms.
Once inside, I took a number and a very nice Japanese clerk asked my name. Then you pay the fee of $131 or the equivalent in yen. I paid in US dollars.
The first time my number was called, I turned in all my documents. Then the clerk asked me to sign the DS-156. The Japanese clerk took care of everything else.
The second time my number was called, was to take my finger prints; left 4 fingers, then right and both thumbs. It took about 2 minutes or so. An American lady with her nose pierced did this part and she was also very nice.
The third time my number was called was for the interview. My interviewer was an African American male. He asked:
How did you meet her?
How long have you known each other?
What is her occupation now?
Any plans for a job after I get there? (Because I listed unknown at this point)
He was also very nice and said congratulations, you're approved. It took about 5 minutes or so. Two days later I got my passport back with the visa via EXPACK 500. |

Timeline Comments: None yet, be the first!
*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the
USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
