Consulate Review: London, United Kingdom
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : February 22, 2014
Embassy Review : Feels like a lifetime ago, but was very straight forward. The only hiccup was when the interviewing consular asked for my original birth certificate. Although I was born in France, the only one I was ever told I needed was the Registration of a Birth Abroad certificate, which establishes my UK citizenship. Told the consular I've never had one to my knowledge. He goes away, comes back and says that's fine. Was fun for my fiance, who accompanied me, to have an American soda and candy from the snack machine for the first time in several months!
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Houston
Event Description
Entry Date : 2010-07-09
Embassy Review : Traveled with my fiance and K2 daughter. There was no wait for the first immigration line, and the "directing person" sent all 3 of us through the visitors' line (not USCs). He took our brown packets, asked what my relationship to Ry is (duh!?) and after fingerprinting and photographing me (daughter is only 10, so no biometrics) sent Ry down the "hall" to wait for us. We were accompanied to secondary processing where we waited about 30 minutes.

The IO was going through our envelopes within sight and ear-shot of us, so when she went to throw the envelope away, I asked her if I could keep one as a memento which she thought was hilarious and then scared all heck out of me saying to her colleague "Hmm, it says there's a letter and I don't see it. If it's not here, we have a problem.." When I'd received the courier envie, the declaration I had to sign at the embassy for the K2 and the permission letter from my daughter's father were just loose in the envelope. I approached the IO and told her this, she said "I can see you're nervous, but just go sit down."

10 heart in throat minutes later, she called us up with our stamped I-94s and passports, asked when we're getting married, reminded me we have 30 days. It turned out that she was referring to a letter referenced in the medical (about my daughter's anxiety) and that it wasn't an issue. So with a bit of banter and her declaring that "the two of you are hilarious, and you and your fiance make a lovely couple!" she sent us on our merry way.

The 1 is only because of the grumpiness of the first guy and the 2nd IO scaring the proverbial outta me within earshot! lol
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
