Review Topic: K3 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : November 16, 2007
Embassy Review : I contacted them via email, the minute my packet was sent to them by NVC,US. My email said "Dear Sir/Madam, My Case # is MDR******. Would you please let me know when you recieve it and would you also let me know when my spouse interview is scheduled.

I didn't really expect much from the email but after about 6 days I recieved a short reply. "Your spouse interview date is Nov1. Attached is your package and check list for the interview. Bring a copy of this email on the day of the interview for entry.

"Awesome". We never recieved any packet via snail mail but the email had everything we needed, including clear instructions and Check List to verify our documents. I followed the instructions to the T. (Msg me with specific questions if anybody have any questions regarding the instructions, I will tell you what I did).

Nov 1, 9 AM was our interview. We got there at 8.40. Initially the guard at the entrance insisted that he can only allow my spouse(benificiary) but not me. I told him, to go back and check cause I was told I will be allowed by the embassy personel, I also told him, you can't deny a US Citizen from entering his embassy. (I don't know if he can or not. He went back and talked to somebody and let us both in. We walked in following instructions to the second building there, somebody told us to go and sit and wait and my spouse name will be called.

They called her name around 9.30 or so. They collected our forms, DD, and gave us a token number. Waited again, our number is right in the middle of the pack. Initially one lady was doing the Immigration interviews, and as it was getting closer to 12.00 another person opened another counter and starting calling from the last number. Since we were in the middle of the pack and one of them is going from the begining and the other from the end, we turned out to be the last but one. Our turn at the counter came around 12.30. The guy asked me, When I came to the country? I told him 3 weeks back. He said, you got that much time off? I replied, I wanted to be here, to make sure this interview is successful. He asked me again, Do you still have your job, when you get back? I replied, Yes. He replied, congratulations, your application is approved. You will recieve your passport and visa within 24 to 48 hours after we process it. I asked, Can we come and pick it up in person, We need to go to US soon. He gave me instructions on when and where to collect the Visa and passport and wished us good luck. Did you notice, how he didn't ask my wife a single question There was an another K3 applicant who showed up with his spouse, he told me they didn't ask them any questions either. We also saw some other applicants mostly I130 and CR1 visas getting grilled. Anyways besides the wait, this embassy is great to deal with, they are prompt, helpful and great to deal with. Even though the wait seemed long. They made sure to finish all the interviews by 12.30, so its only 3 and half hour wait. Not so long compared to the 7 months it took us to get there.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
