Consulate Review: Mumbai, India
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : June 15, 2018
Embassy Review : I reached at 6.45
Around 6.50/55 they ask immigrants visa to form line and by 7 they take 20 people in at one time
I was first in line pass through security and walk straight inside the building
There you’ll be asked to sit as per language preference
I selected English
After that you’ll be asked to remove documents ie Pcc marriage and birth certificate ds 260 and medicals and passport the assistant will come and arrange documents and ask to wait while they distribute token no.
I was called by indian officer
Basic questions asked husband name?
Where he stays?
Travel outside country or to US?
applied ever for US visa before?
Here as I had new passport my ds 260 needed to be updated they asked me to go to specific counter so person can assist me and change details where it took about an hr as usual system issue they got...
After that I was waiting for final interview
I was called by name as the my number wasn’t reflecting on screen
I went for interview with American officer this time
First they ask to raise right hand and I believe that’s the time they read you while taking oath and then they take fingerprints
Now questioning begins
My interview questions are different as my scenario is different I got married in 3rd country while studying with foreign national
Anyways questions asked
Who’s the petitioner?
Have your spouse lived in NZ?
What were both of you doing there?
What did my spouse work in NZ?
How did we meet?
How long we dated for before getting married?
Did we have marriage ceremony?
Did my in laws come to the ceremony?
Did I meet any of my spouse friends?
Asked for my expired passport to check where all i travel
Point to note
I’ve got US tourist visa denied before I applied after marriage no questions asked about it no photos asked
Interview was very pleasant lasted about 5 mins
all answers were one line statement
I did ask for same day passport official said highly unlikely so will be waiting
My interview ended at 9.45/10. Could have been hr earlier if stupid computer of their would work
There many people who’s visa were rejected just to let you know people getting visa rejected most of them are k1 visa ie finance visa don’t let that discourage you spouse visa takes about 10mins max and finance visa about 20 mins or more depends
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
