Comments : This is my personal timeline on how I went ahead with the process for El Salvador - all the countries are different: (I had sooooo many questions and if this timeline can help one person, I will be happy)

03/21/2018 - Completed DS-160 once we received the NVC case number
03/22/2018 - Set up profile on website ( https://cgifederal.secure.force.com/SiteLogin?country=El Salvador&language=es ) , paid visa fee and made embassy appointment - we took a leap of faith and calculated 5 weeks out for the appt. We also made the appt because there were only two slots left for April and the next available was until the last week of May. You also have the option of rescheduling up to 2 times

03/23/2018 - Set up Medical - for the medical appointment they ask for a UID number (which you get from enrolling online, it is the number that appears next to your email on the upper right hand corner when you log in), the NVC case number, the number to DUI (specific to El Salvador), and the date of your embassy appointment, etc

04/03/2018 - NVC website said "Ready" - It was received so late due to Easter holiday
04/03/2018 - Emailed embassy letting them know the NVC website said "ready" and I attached the DS-160 and to let them know to send me packet 4 via email (if you email them before it says ready they will refer you back to NVC - for El Salvador, packet 3 is completing the DS-160 - also, the embassy is very responsive to email, they respond within one to three days. If they don't, you can follow up with another email - Please note:

04/05/2018 - Sent packet of documents to fiancé (8-10 days since there was enough time)
04/12/2018 - Medical appointment completed
04/17/2018 - My fiancé received packet of documents I sent
04/25/2018 - Interview at the embassy

04/25/2018 - On the interview day, my fiancé said it was more the wait (2.5 hours!!!) than the actual interview. This is what he told me: his interview was at 10 am and arrived at 9:35 am. He said they checked him in and asked for his appointment notice which he had printed out. They told him to follow a green arrow. At the end of the green arrow they gave him a ticket number. They told him to have a seat and was called one hour later. When they called him they asked for the following:

His Birth Certificate
Passport
DUI (specific to El Salvador)
DS160 Confirmation Page
Payment Verification that the Visa Fee was Paid
Police Record (Solvencia Policial)
Original Divorce Decree with the Raised Seal (from Petitioner)

They gave him his DUI and passport and told him to have a seat again. He was called half hour later to the actual interview. My fiancé said that the gentleman greeted him and was very nice. The interviewer asked how he was doing and than he began asking him questions. The interviewer asked the following:

What is your fiancé's name?
Has she been married before?
Has she been divorced?
Does she have children?
Have you been married before?
What does your fiancé do (work)?
How many times has your fiancé come to see you?
When did you meet?
How did you meet?
Where do you work?
What is your position?
Did you bring photos?

My fiancé answered all the questions and of course added a little bit of additional information so it wasn't like a Q&A but a conversation. My fiancé had taken a lot of photos of us that we had taken and the interviewer took his time to look at each one!!! Once he had seen them all he returned them. The interviewer stated that everything was in order and he was approved :) !!!! Yey!!! He asked my fiancé if he had any questions and that was the end. It was more the wait than the actual interview since my fiancé arrived at 9:35 am and left at 12:20 pm. In addition, in packet 4 they requested documents that they did not even ask for at the time of the interview, but it is best to be over prepared than not prepared at all. I hope this helps for those going through the K-1 process in El Salvador.

05/02/2018 - Checked online for status of Passport "La Embajada sigue en posesion de su pasaporte"

05/03/2018 - Fiancé received email that the documents had been collected from the Embassy

05/04/2018 - Packet ready for pick-up (no email just checked online) "Estado de Pasaporte Listo Para Ser Recogido" - 9 days after interview

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
