Hi ! We’re you requested to attend the interview?
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-08 said:
No, but I'm going there to support my fiance. What makes you ask?
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-08 said:
I plan on going too. I am an immigration paralegal and for most of our cases the petitioner isn’t requiered to attend but sometimes they are. I was curious.
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-08 said:
Oh no worries, if you need any assistance I would be glad to help. They dont give you much help after your case gets sent to the embassy. You have to do all the legwork if you dont have a lawyer and majority of the information is on this site which is very helpful.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-08 said:
The NVC just assigned a case number 4 days ago I just wonder how long it’ll take till it gets sent to the embassy
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-08 said:
It will likely happen within two weeks or more. But due to the holidays you may receive it early. Also, you can check when it arrives at the embassy by tracking DHL shipping. But that won't happen until you receive the email. I can send you stuff along the way. Hopefully we can assist each other because this process is excruciating and it helps to have someone walk you through the steps. People say have patience but I say have patience endurance because you are on other peoples time.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-08 said:
Yes I purchased a flight for December 10 and cancelled I thought the process would be faster I’m hoping for an interview in January
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-08 said:
Thank you so much
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-08 said:
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-08 said:
Oh no dont purchase your tickets until you have the medical, vac, and interviewed scheduled. They dont have many dates available for December but plenty for January have you checked the sites for interview times and paid the fees?
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-08 said:
Yes i paid the fee for $200 something and checked the days they have available i don’t see any for December
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-09 said:
Yeah I at one point had one scheduled in December and had to reschedule for January because of the snow storm coming this weekend. I just didnt want to wait that long
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-11 said:
Hey! My case was sent to the embassy is it terrible that I want to schedule the interview for mid January ? I’m afraid the days will fill up !
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-11 said:
Btw I only know this because i called the NVC still no mail from them. Will everything come via email? Or is the packet sent by mail ?
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-11 said:
yeah I thought the same thing and I am glad you are confirming for me that they don't send mail. They send everything via email. I googled packet 3 and 4 and found it is just the confirmation emails you receive for your appointments and to make sure you bring them to the medical, vac, and interview. In reference to your scheduling of the appointment, have you checked this website: https://ceac.state.gov/ceacstattracker/status.aspx to make sure it is ready at the embassy. Normally it takes up to 3 days so mid January would be sublime for the interview. Yes you are right they fill up pretty quickly.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-11 said:
I have not checked but I will start checking in two days. How long after the NVC sent it did you get the email?
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-11 said:
I believe that next day.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-11 said:
And how about the second email?
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-11 said:
What second email? You only get one from nvc then the embassy doesn't send you anything.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-11 said:
Oh I thought the NVC sent one saying we sent out your case and then the Embassy sent u the get your medicals schedule interview etc one
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-11 said:
I thought they would too, but we never received it. I went to that site I sent to you and that was when it started it was ready for interview and to schedule it. This country is very different then how I see other countries in dealing with the k1 visa. People receive updates via email and packets but for us you have to do your own research and reaching out
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-11 said:
Got it so you never got a list of things to bring ?
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-11 said:
That's the thing. The only time you get a list of things to bring is when you schedule your appointment. They will send you a confirmation email that us fully detailed with what you need to bring to each appointment. For the interview I'm bringing the affidavit of support, verification of my job and that I am still hired, appointment letters, Nvc email confirmation, ds 160, and additional proof of relationship. I have this organized separately in case they ask for individual items.
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-11 said:
Where do you live?
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-12 said:
Im in NJ USA
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-12 said:
Oh ok. The flights are cheaper out if New Jersey
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-12 said:
Hello, I recall you asking if they send you anything, well today I received mail from the embassy directing us to schedule our interview and VAC appointments.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-12 said:
Hey! I just got the email from the NVC saying they sent it to the consulate . How long ago did you get that first email? Was it email or paper mail?
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-12 said:
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-12 said:
In exactly a month to the day
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-12 said:
Did he do his medicals already ? I thought you could not do them till you got this corresponds
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-13 said:
Yes as long as you have your confirmation appointment email and ds 160 application then you can do it. It was very expensive, the original price that they say is not the case. It was over 400 bucks.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-13 said:
Yeah I know that it would be super expensive because even if you have vaccines they make you get boosters i think it’s all for money lol my best friend lives in your town ! Thank you so much I’m thinking to schedule for 01-14-19 but what if I don’t get this second email in time. I thought I didn’t need it since you didn’t get it at first. Again was it paper mail or email the message doesn’t show?
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-13 said:
We received an email a couple of days later explaining that they will forward our case to the embassy and mail a month after the embassy received our case explaining we can schedule our interview. but have you checked that website I sent you? It will change to ready and that you can schedule your interview. You will just need to input your case number from the nvc
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-13 said:
Yeah I got the email saying they forwarded it to the embassy and it says ready for me already I just thought I had to have this latest correspondence you received
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-13 said:
No, you can proceed to schedule your appointments. I would just bring all of these confirmation emails and letters with you for the time of the interview.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-13 said:
Ok I scheduled ! So excited hope all goes well.
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-13 said:
Same for you, keep me posted on your outcome. Yours is ahead of mine.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-13 said:
Yes hopefully I won’t need to reschedule if I don’t get that last Embassy letter
blank avatar Etapia on 2018-12-13 said:
Yeah I had to twice and there are no more changes allowed and if we change it one more we will have to repay the appointment fees. I wish I would have known this before I scheduled but thanks God now I know.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2018-12-13 said:
Same, I can’t reschedule again and hopefully I won’t have to. Thank you so much for all your help we will be in touch
blank avatar Etapia on 2019-01-22 said:
Hello can you ask for an English translator at the interview?
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2019-02-21 said:
Congratulations ! Sorry I didn’t realize you asked a question before.

Hey i just noticed ur timeline.. i am also a dominican republic filer. i am wondering IF the embassy sends an email that you need for the medical? Or can I just simply take the ds160 confirmation and embassy interview confirmation to the medical center. I am waiting for tuesdays shipment for my petition to be sent from NVC to the embassy.
Gc0988 on 2019-03-04 said:
Waiting for this tuesday (03/05/2019) shipment from NVC to embassy**
blank avatar Etapia on 2019-03-04 said:
They send you an email letting you know that you can schedule your interview but they are late at sending everything. My fiance just brought his DS 160 confirmation and the embassy confirmation and that was sufficient enough. One thing to remember, this country is notorious for no remembering to put the medical results into the system before the interview. Be sure to be on top of them and have your results prior to the interview so you will not go into administrative processing. We had to wait an additional two weeks because they did not put his information in the system and he had to retake his urine test.
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2019-03-04 said:
Hi , my fiancé had to pick them up. The medical exam was done in the capital and shipped to some place in Santiago where he had to pick them up. We had to take them with us unopened. He brought the DS confirmation and the embassy confirmation letter that stated his case number to have them done.
blank avatar Etapia on 2019-03-04 said:
@ mduran, that is correct you will have to pick them up but be sure to pick them up prior to the interview. ?4u mduran, they gave him the envelope but never opened it but they said he will need them when he gets here. Does he need thst for when we do the adjustment of status?
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2019-06-13 said:
Congrats on filing we just received our receipts this week as well
blank avatar Etapia on 2019-06-13 said:
Oh awesome. So we are both in the waiting game again. How has it been going?
blank avatar Mduran24 on 2019-06-14 said:
Oh you know , it’s an adjustment . 90 days was not enough lol

Did you expedite EAD/AP? Congratulations!
blank avatar Etapia on 2019-09-15 said:
We tried but they said they had lost our paperwork when i called last week. However, when i called the lady told ne to call back but we didnt have a chance to. Checked over the weekend and it had changed. Its weird because other people that expedite it states on the website expedite approved but ours went directly to card being processed and ready to be scheduled for the interview

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
