Consulate Review: Vancouver, Canada
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 18, 2008
Embassy Review : The consulate officer didn't ask for any evidence of our relationship (and I had several inches of paperwork documenting it). He just looked through the I-129-F file and the paperwork they'd specifically asked for and commented on / asked about a few things: where I'm moving to (he knew a city in the area), one of the photos of my fiance and me submitted with the I-129F (he asked where it was taken), and a couple of questions/comments about how my fiance and I met and the work we do. He also asked if my fiance has any dependants, but it was all very conversational. I think he was checking to see how easily I was able to talk about the details when he drew attention to them.

Then he finished with "Everything appears to be in order" and asked if I wanted to pick up the package the next day at 2:30 or have it mailed to me.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Vancouver
Event Description
Entry Date : 2007-10-17
Embassy Review : As others have written, it was easy. Going through Customs, I said that I needed to activate a K-1 visa, and I was directed to secondary. I was told that my name would be called once I was there.

Two other people were already in the waiting room for secondary, but my name was called before theirs were, almost right away. The officer who processed my visa opened the envelope, wrote some things down, entered some information in the computer, stamped my passport, and filled out, stamped, and stapled the I-94 into my passport. In total, it took about 10-15 minutes.

He also gave me a photocopy of the vaccination worksheet with his name, number, and signature on the back. He told me that he used to work in the department where I'll need it, and he said that it can be a hassle getting that paper. I really appreciated this extra step he took, and the experience couldn't have been easier.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
