Embassy Review : We got our approval today! In very good spirits. Here's our review.

We had a bit of a curveball thrown to us when our Oct. 9 appointment was cancelled and moved to November 3rd (after our Oct 21 wedding!) because the Embassy was going to have an "administrative day". Thankfully, I had called my Senator and asked them to be inquiring about my case. I did this after we got our RFE. Our Senator's office was very helpful in this time of crisis and we were able to schedule an appointment for Sept 28.

We are staying at the Holiday Inn Express. It's a great hotel, decent breakfast every morning and close to everything! They even give you access to an amazing gym across the street at the mall. Definitely recommend.

We arrived on Monday, the 25th. Adiel had his medical at 11 on Tuesday. He went to Clinica Medical Internacional. It was pretty straightforward except there was a little confusion around what shots he needed. Once that got clarified, all was well. It was about $220US for the appointment. He was back by 11:45AM. We picked up his results at 3:30PM and took a little walk beforehand to see where everything was. We visited the CAS office and saw where he would go for his interview. It helped to have a sense of where to go!

Wednesday morning, he went for his finger prints. Don't bring any cellphone, keys or anything with you. Be sure to bring your I had read enough on here to know that! It was easy, he was back by before 9AM (it was an 8AM appointment). We spent the day working and did a double check of our paperwork for the next day. I decided to update the Affadavit for Support and print my most current account balances, mortgage records and house valuation.

That brings us to today! He had a 9:45AM appointment and we arrived at 9. He went straight in. The total wait time was almost exactly 3 hours. There were two stops. First, the paperwork check. They reviewed all of the documents you brought with you, including your financial support records. This portion took about 5-10 minutes. They even took his passport at this point to check. Then, you wait for your turn. There are about 16 interviewers inside for up to 300 people that they process everyday. Adiel got a fairly new interviewer who was a little confused by the fact that Adiel already had a B1 visa and was going for a second one. But after he looked it all over, he asked a few questions about how we met, what kind of work Adiel did, when our relationship started and where we would be living. After looking over all the paperwork, he got the green paper and was approved! He told Adiel that it can take up to 2 weeks to get the visa, but we know that the window is a bit shorter.

I chose to go to Starbucks for about an hour and then just stood and waited, watching the people come out. Lots of happy people and definitely a few sad ones. Blue paper = declined. I can't tell you how refreshing it was to see Adiel walk out of the embassy and say "We got it!".
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
