POE Review: JFK
Event Description
Entry Date : 2017-06-26
Embassy Review : I was so worried about my fiance having trouble, we travelled together and I hoped that meant i could be with him throughout the whole process, but it wasn't possible. It was a bit messy the whole new system that they have in JFK, my fiance got on the 'residents' line with me, no problem there (it just changed the amount of time he would have spent on the line, we all ended up in the same place)... but now instead of going directly to an immigrations officer you have to go to some machine that scans your passport, greencard, or visa. When i scanned my passport (us citizen) the machine took a picture of me and printed out a receipt that i needed to hand into the immigrations officer. But his visa wouldn't scan so when we asked for help they rushed us along to the next line and said that he didnt need one...? So when we got to the front of the next line, instead of going directly to the booth with the official... some line organizer (like i said... its a mess... and they dont want anydelays so they rush you along!) that tells you to go to another line that will bring you to the booth with the immigrations officer. But here they lady tells me that we cant go together... that there is no such thing as a fiance visa..... ? yes there is (and this lady is working the immigrations section...!) so i showed her my fiances visa and she didnt know what to do so she wnet and asked someone. In the end we both had to go to different lines than the one we were in... and seperately. I went to a us citizen only line and was through immigrations in a total of two minutes. Then i had to wait in baggage claim for my fiance... i knew that he had a seperate interview where they could possibly turn him back to argentina! I thought i was going to be waiting an hour at least but he was out in 15 minutes, officially in the USA! They didn't even scan our bags.... we got in line for baggage check and just handed the declarations papers in and walked on through.

So yes, it was extremely unorganized, the ladies that are supposed to help you find the right lines will probably point you in the wrong direction but in the end the interview which is the important part was super easy and fast.
Harassment Level : Low

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
