Interview: We got sworn in in the officer's office. Officer asked mostly about how/where we met. He asked about how often my wife had traveled to the USA. Where we got married and if we are planning a big ceremony. We told him we had a small dinner after ceremony at county clerk's office. He went through all the yes/no questions. Then the interview was over... I then offered him some pictures which he seemed to appreciate (but hadn't asked for). I also pointed at my wife's pregnant belly and explained she is 5months pregnant. He then gave us the form with "case is held while pending review" box checked. We were told that everyone gets that form and that he didn't see any issues and that we should be seeing an update soon. He then went on to say that cards typically take about 10 days to arrive in the mail after approval.

6/7 - AP approved after requesting expedited processing for I-131. Took ~10 days after InfoPass appointment to make the request. Officer in local office submitted request, processing center sent e-mail with instructions and requested us to fax the docs. Was quite painless.

Consulate Review: Korea
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description

Embassy Review : K1 Interview

Arrived at 710am for 8am appointment. First in line. Line started getting long at 715am. They opened up the door at 730am. We proceeded upstairs to check in. After that we had to go up one more floor to wait for the real processing of our papers. There we learned that being first in the building doesn't determine your place in the queue for processing as other people were called first. On the information display it says though: "Your interview will be conducted within 2hours of your appointment time".

First our paperwork was reviewed by a korean clerk. When everything checked out she told us to have a seat and wait for the consul to call us.

After my fiancee was sworn in by the consul he asked her a few simple questions: when/where did you meet your fiancee? How did he propose? When will you get married? (We answered that that depends on his decision with a smile on our face). He then concluded with: "your visa is approved. congratulations!". A very happy moment for us...

The consular officer was very friendly and the process was very smooth. We are out of the building by 930am.

Note: preparation of paperwork is key...we saw plenty of people get sent back to gather more papers. We didn't prepare much more than what was requested in the K1 pkt3 instructions. I did include tax returns of past 3 years (they only ask for "latest") and did include proof of income through a recent W-2. I decided to do that based on info from this forum. I didn't include any letter from the bank since my income was sufficient.

Rating : Very Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
