Comments : Sent AOS and IV via email, missed out on the CEAC document upload option somehow. 2017-06-14 NVC email with checklist (Birth Certificate, Military Documents, Police Clearance from AFP not State police). Documents sent on 2017-06-15 with a request to have the interview scheduled without waiting fro AFP clearance.

2017-07-14 Received email from NVC notifying of interview on 2017-08-01.
2017-07-19 Medical exam, took about 2.5 hours including chest xray, exam results received by consulate on 2017-07-24
2017-08-01 Interview at US Consulate in Sydney. Filled out the Document Cover Sheet at https://au.usembassy.gov/visas/immigrant-visas/family-based-immigration/the-interview/ with originals and copies exactly in the same order as on the Document Cover Sheet. At security they check all the documents including the express post envelope. Having everything in exact order sped up the process. Arrived at 9:05 for the 9:50 interview. After security check at level 10, proceeded to Level 59, took a ticket and waited. They process the interviews based on order of tickets, not the actual interview time. Interview was in 2 stages (possibly because we had assets rather than income for support). The first person asked a few questions about my job, all the countries I have lived in, but more of a causal conversation rather than an interview. The second person did the official interview. Start with swearing everything in the application is correct, state who filed the petition, how and when you met, all the countries you have lived, going through the documents the interviewer had some clarifying questions but nothing tricky. Visa approved, the passport will be sent in a week.

While I was waiting a few people did not get their visas, reasons were 1) Need proof of US citizenship of the petitioner, email a copy of their passport, 2) Need police clearance from AFP not state police, 3) Need actual marriage certificate, not the ceremonial paperwork, 4) Need proof of support since petitioner currently did not have job, possibly another person to guarantee support. In hindsight, all of these documents are listed as essential, but I guess it is easy to overlook them.

2017-08-05 Entered US via Los Angeles airport. Took lees than 15 minutes. 1st CBP took documents and fingerprints. 2nd CBP opened the documents package, asked how long we had married, had a short friendly conversation, stamped the passport and gave "Welcome to the USA" flyer.

2017-08-22 Actual greencard arrived via postal mail

Embassy Review : 2017-07-14 Received email from NVC notifying of interview on 2017-08-01.

2017-07-19 Medical exam, took about 2.5 hours including chest xray, exam results received by consulate on 2017-07-24. I could have skipped some vaccinations since I had the diseases as a child. However, the test to show immunity would have come back in a few days and if the test did not show immunity, I'd have to to get the vaccinations. Since I was in a hurry, I went ahead with vaccinations. In hindsight, I should have had the medical earlier after NVC case was complete and could have had the extra time to wait for immunity results and such.

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
