Greencard Received: 2017-05-11
Comments : Our interview was waived, never received a waiver letter though. In the original submissions we did not submit the medical I-693 because we had assumed he had covered all medical requirements in Brazil when he applied for his K1 visa. We were wrong. We received an RFE on December 20 and had the medical in January and submitted the medical and I-693 on January 24. I believe this set back the approval of the green card by several months.

Consulate Review: Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Review Topic: K1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : July 19, 2016
Embassy Review : Great!

My fiance and his daugther went. Everything was good, interviewer very kind.

They told him approved but requested a better copy of the original birth certificate of my step-daughter.

Since we live in Bahia it took about 2 weeks to get that back to the consulate and another 10 days for them to process and issue the visa so PLEASE make sure your documents are ORIGINAL and new, avoid bringing old copies of original documents.

In all the interview was June 28 and due to this setback the visa was issued on July 19, still awaiting the arrival of the passport in the mail.
Rating : Good

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
